Summary
Description1970 AMC Ambassador DPL station wagon at 2024 AMO meet 03of12.jpg |
English: 1970 AMC Ambassador DPL four-door station wagon. This is the mid-trim level in the Ambassador line, a full-sized car made by American Motors Corporation (AMC). This Ambassador is finished in Mosport Green Metallic (paint code P-86) and has the optional body side trim with Hialeah Yellow (paint code P56). The top-level SST Ambassador station wagons included simulated woodgrain trim instead. The interior is in black with AMC's woven vinyl (breathable) upholstery with 50-50 individually adjustable reclining front seats. The body design of the station wagons was basically unchanged from 1969, but all 1970 Ambassadors featured a new extruded aluminum grille with bright horizontal bars and a center body-colored horizontal bar. The power-operated tailgate window lowers and the tailgate can be opened in two-directions. The center-mounted inside release handle unlatches both sides to lower it down on its bottom hinges to extend the cargo floor - or using the other release mounted on the inside right-side - swings it on its left-side hinges for easy reach access to the cargo area. This car has AMC's - new for the 1970 model year - 360 cu in (5.9 L) V8 engine that replaced the 343 cu in versions that were introduced in late 1966. The AMC 360 V8 engine continued to be produced until 1991 (even after Chrysler acquired AMC in 1987) for the luxurious Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
