Français : Charles François de Broglie, prince de Broglie, marquis de Ruffec. Ambassadeur en Pologne de 1752 à 1756, lieutenant général en 1760, commandant en Franche-Comté en 1761-1762, gouverneur du Saumurois en 1770, chef du "cabinet secret" de Louis XV (le "secret du Roi"). Né le 20 août 1719 - Paris, décédé le 16 août 1781 - Saint-Jean-d'Angély, Charente-Maritime ...C'est en qualité de diplomate que le comte de Broglie a été peint par Carmontelle, en costume de cour, debout, tête nue, de profil à gauche, appuyé de son bras droit sur un soubassement de pierre au milieu d'un parc, son tricorne jeté négligemment sous le bras gauche. Ses cheveux sont frisés et poudrés, son habit et son gilet, d'un bleu tendre, sont bordés d'argent, et sa culotte, attachée au dessous du genou sur les bas blancs, est du même ton et de la même étoffe que l'habit (dessin de Carmontelle de 1757 ou 1758)...
