English: The Royal Family of Hawaii. Left to right: Queen Emma, King Kamehameha IV, Princess Victoria, Queen Dowager, Maid of Honor, and Prince Lot Kamehameha. Lithograph by Thomas Armstrong after an original portrait by Charles Nahl, in the November 1858 issue of Hutching's California Magazine. The original was a life-size oil painting by Charles Nahl exhibited during the Mechanics' Institute Fair in 1857 at San Francisco. In 1858, this painting and Nahl's Emigrants Crossing the Plains were considered the best works in the exhibition. [1][2]
