English: Riala at age 35. He was a member of the Great Andamanese Aka-Kede tribe and in the 1890s (when this photograph was taken) worked as an interpreter between the northern Great Andamanese tribes and the British authorities. He also was a popular singer with his people and was regarded by the British as intelligent but of violent temper.
