Original caption: WHO'S THE POLITICIAN IN THE CAR?—Well, it's somebody more popular than a politician, Magic Johnson, getting a conquering hero's reception in Laker Day parade. The ticker-tape parade produced very little ticker tape and about 6,000 fans (left photo), pretty good but a little short of what the Philadelphia Flyers drew after they won their first Stanley cup in 1974 (police estimate: 2,000,000) and also shy of what the New York Mets drew after winning the World Series in 1969 (hundreds of thousands). |
