image: five sailors sit in a cabin below deck. One is sitting on an upper bunk writing, a second sits with legs up and arms folded on a lower bunk. In the foreground, the heads and shoulders of two other sailors are visible, one unoccupied, the other looking down as if writing or reading, while the head of the fifth man is barely visible at the base of a central pillar.
