English: Shield of arms of The Lord O'Neill of the Maine. Arms of "O'Neill of the Fews, County Armagh": Per fess wavy argent and azure, in chief a (dexter) hand couped at the wrist affrontée gules in base a salmon naiant proper (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, pp.758-9). Argent, a hand couped at the wrist affrontée gules was the arms of O'Neill, King of Ulster, Prince of Tyrone, otherwise known as the Red Hand of Ulster, an ancient heraldic symbol of the rulers of Ireland
