Yes, he is a person of extreme prominence. How a person who remained a head of country for more than 30 years can't be extremely prominent? I am not a citizen of Indonesia nor have i ever visited Indonesia but still i know him long ago when he was in office. --SMSTalk12:31, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I admit i do not know much about Gordon B. Hinckley at the time of this writing but i will certainly read the article. The "extraordinary people" tag applies to the Pope, the leader of a religion, but--I think it is fair to say that Catholicism has a much more international following than Mormonism. I say this only because current events is supposed to be geopolitical news that is relevant to the international community. WikiTony (talk) 06:18, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Mormonism is definitely an international religion (though you are correct that it is does not have as large a following as Catholicism). For some statistics, see this page at Adherents.com. I would prefer to see this news item included, and am surprised it has been removed three times, as opposed to left in (especially after the second and third time). --Iamunknown19:24, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've restored the news of Gordon B. Hinckley's passing. Multiple editors have added it, and thus clearly think it is newsworthy. As I assert above, it is of international significance. Removing it is a disservice to the readers. --Iamunknown03:51, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
