Genesis

The paragraph or two about Dune Encyclopedia's entry should either be quoted or deleted. I don't know the precise quote, but it's just sort of silly right now to say that Earth is the planet that humans "supposedly" came from.

Perhaps my memory is faulty, but I thought that what happened with the shield wall was that a laser intersected the shield thus producing an explosion that only looked like it could be atomic. I seem to remember there being some concern that it could be misinterpreted. Am I misremembering this? -- Andrew Lias

No, your memory is faulty on that one. Towards the end of Dune, prior to becoming Emperor, Paul is questioned/harrassed/accused of using atomics in violation of the Great Convention, to which he responds something along the lines of "I used atomics against a natural rock formation, not humans."--Vidkun 15:20, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

For an article about stone burners, there seems to be a fair amount of commentry on the economics of the Soviet Union. Relevance?

Revamp

NOTE: The following move/edit has been made, see below.
I think this page needs to be revamped. It seems to have expanded to cover not just stone burners specifically but Family atomics and atomic weapons in the Dune universe in general. Perhaps we can move this to Atomics (Dune) and either merge back out stone burners as a stub or just redirect everything? --Gwern (contribs) 05:25 1 March 2007 (GMT)

Hmm, this sounds like a good idea. We should then relink all "family atomics" links that now go to nuclear weapons there, and even link/make a mention of the article in the appropriate section of Nuclear weapons in popular culture. Stone Burners

I was under the thinking that stone burners are some kind of continuous explosion intended to melt through the planets crust, thereby causing some cataclysmic reaction when it reaches the center of the planet...

Good catch, there was a sentence about that in the article that got lost in the recent move/edit, and I've restored it. And I'll do a little search later to get some kind of reference from the novels. TAnthony 15:45, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
