anachronism
editThis article asserts that the painting, completed around 1513, was based on a sitter who lived from 1318 – 1369. I suspect that either this may be the wrong Margaret of Tyrol (unlikely, as her page says she was the last countess of the region, or that it's simply false.

- I think it's an April Fool's joke. Today is April 1. 16:34, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, that must be why someone commented on it in January. —Tamfang (talk) 21:12, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Read it again: "the last Countess of Tyrol from the Gorizia-Tyrol Meinhardiner dynasty." The Habsburgs used "count of Tyrol" among their titles for at least a couple more centuries. —Tamfang (talk) 21:12, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- She had acquired a reputation as being very ugly, & there may have been earlier supposed portraits of her. But yes, this is the right lady, and no, the painting probably does not resemble her actual appearance at all. Johnbod (talk) 14:25, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
File:Quentin Massys 008.jpg to appear as POTD soon
editHello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Quentin Massys 008.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on April 1, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-04-01. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 16:46, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

portrait of an old man
editThere seems to be no article on the companion piece, which seems to be of another style. is there no published source on their relationship? this calls into question the portrait's status as satire. this needs more research 98.206.155.53 (talk) 03:18, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- WP is as unreliable as ever. The painting is not a satire, it is an actual woman suffering from a disorder, probably commissioned. Hence the warmth and care in the portrait, and why Da Vinci would be so interested in it himself. There are sources out there. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 05:06, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Your right John. I cobbled together the article, but in haste. I saw it in London last week, and got a few sources. Needs more work as you say, and I'll do it. Ceoil 10:05, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
Her virilization also suggests an androgen producing) neoplasm, possibly an adrenal cortical tumor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Corilou1 (talk • contribs) 13:50, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
