Notability iffy, concentrate on notable achievements

Small- and medium-sized city mayors are not inherently notable. In any case, references must be cited.

Criteria that might qualify:

• The person has received a notable award or honor, or has been often nominated for them.
• The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field.
• Politicians who have held international, national or sub-national (statewide/provincewide) office, and members and former members of a national, state or provincial legislature.[9]
• Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage.[7] Generally speaking, mayors are likely to meet this criterion, as are members of the main citywide government or council of a major metropolitan city.
• Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.

Tim Ayers' claims to fame:

• Mayor of a city of 50-100,000 people for 6 years: Depends on presence "significant press coverage" above and beyond routine matters like "Present at today's city council meeting was Mayor Ayers and council-members ...." Citations please.
• Legislative Message Clerk: sorry, unless there was significant press coverage as a result.
• Work with Nashville, TN Chamber Of Commerce: sorry, unless there was significant press coverage as a result.
• Student government: sorry, unless there was significant press coverage as a result.
• Work with the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture: sorry, unless there was significant press coverage as a result.
• $750,000 HUD grant: Probably not, but a potential place to look for significant press coverage.
• Kentucky Minority Educator and Retention Award: Only if the award is itself notable, particularly if it is nationally recognized. Would a Wikipedia article on this award meet notability requirements?

education removed for lack of a reference

I removed references to his high school and college education and achievements while in college, due to lack of suitable references. The should be restored when references are found. Suitable references would include student newspapers, school yearbooks, and the like. Official school graduation programs may be suitable if a copy is available in a public location such as the school library, public library, or other publicly-accessible location.
