Converts a roman numeral to an ordinal century, so 'XIX' ⟶ '19th century'. It also accepts Arabic numbers, within reason, and will output invalid input unchanged without error messages. Caveat editor.

Usage

Parameters

|1= – a roman numeral between I and XXV
|short= – if present, emits 'c.' instead of the word 'century'. Alias: 'abbr'.

Examples

• {{Nth century|XIX}} → 19th century
• {{Nth century|XV|short=yes}} → 15th c.
• {{Nth century|18}} → 18th century
• {{Nth century|21}} → 21st century
• {{Nth century|invalid}} → invalidth century

Technical

A planned expansion will permit roman numeral ranges with hyphens in param 1 , e.g., XV-XVII.

Designed to catch similar templates from other Wikipedias, which would otherwise result in undefined template errors after translation. Known examples:

• French: fr:Template:S-; redirect: Template:S-
