Hi. Call me Kal. My interests are primarily in film, literature, Irish whiskey, and Italian wine; among other things, I'm a professional copyeditor. My favorite movie is Night of the Hunter, my favorite book is probably The Moviegoer. I'm proud to be one of the primary authors and conominators of the Featured Article Elvis Presley (). I was also a conominator of Jaws () when it finally (re-) won FA status.

I signed up here thinking I would focus on movie matters, but my most intensive work during my first two years was on the United States and three music articles: The Clash, Ramones, and Sex Pistols (). I had the pleasure of rounding "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" into shape and I've sporadically made some improvements to Columbia Pictures (still very much a work in progress).

I've contributed copyediting help to a variety of other articles. I now concentrate on doing combination copyediting/substantive reviews of articles of interest that come up in the FAC process. Below are those to which I've made a substantial contribution:

The Million Award
For your contributions to bring Elvis Presley (estimated annual readership: 4,174,000) to Featured Article status, I hereby present you the Million Award. Congratulations on this rare accomplishment, and thanks for all you do for Wikipedia's readers. -- Khazar2 (talk) 11:45, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
This editor won the Million Award for bringing Jaws (film) to Featured Article status.
The Cleanup Barnstar
For all your work in Jaws (film), which now reads better than ever! You may even add yourself as a co-nominator if you want so! igordebraga 01:53, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
The Barnstar of Diligence
Well done sir! You have had quite a day for the Presley TFA! Wehwalt (talk) 00:02, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
The Copyeditor's Barnstar
I am happy to offer you another barnstar for yet another exhaustive, excellent copy edit. First Tender Mercies, and now Parks and Recreation (season 1). Whereas most of my feedback on that FAC was limited to little more than "the prose needs work" with no actionable advice, you single-handedly saved the nomination from failure and made great improvements to the article along the way. I can't express my appreciation enough; please let me know if I can ever return the favor! — Hunter Kahn 14:46, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
The Original Barnstar
DocKino, you do amazing work over at FAC, and your copyediting has proved invaluable to the articles you've worked on. You've always guided, helped, and defended me here on Wikipedia; now, over at The Kinks, you've prevented an edit war, and saved me from filing an ANI report. For this I thank you; few Wikipedians I know are as deserving of this star as you. Again, thank you. - I.M.S. (talk) 03:05, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
The Copyeditor's Barnstar
For a thorough, rigorous copy edit on Tender Mercies, which was crucial in getting the article to FA and made an unquestionably positive impact on the entry. Your help with image and audio fair use rationales was also highly appreciated. My sincere thanks! — Hunter Kahn (c) 05:55, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
The Reviewer's Barnstar
For your phenomenal input to The Beatles at FAC, your exhaustive efforts to improve the article's coverage and accuracy before the review ended, backed up by countless hands-on fixes, your skilful diplomacy during the review, and your willingness to work collaboratively with other editors to resolve issues afterwards.
Thank you! PL290 (talk) 20:15, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
For your fantastic work on Sex Pistols. Cheers. --IllaZilla (talk) 03:27, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
The Music Barnstar
