WikiCup notice

The 2009 WikiCup will begin on January 1, 2009. The first round will run through March 31, 2009. For more information on this tournament, read the "about" section on the main WikiCup page.

This year, we have a different system in calculating points. At User:Garden/WikiCup/Submissions, you will find information about submitting your article (and other) work to earn points. Each contestant will have their own individual subpage for submitting completed work to us.

This year, User:ST47 will also be running one of his bots to calculate mainspace edits and read your submission subpages to calculate the point values you receive based on our scoring chart.

Thanks for the notice! I don't have anything to add to my statement. folks seem like they think this is a good idea, i don't. I think we have to many admins who don't do admining, we don't need to add more. Those who have signed up to be an admin have, imo, a responsibility to assist editors in making the project work outside of the creation and editing of articles. --Rocksanddirt (talk) 19:37, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Please reinstate the article for the award-winning band, "Chapter 6." All of the information that was posted came directly from our website www.chapter6.com. Our top tenor, Luke Menard, was featured on "American Idol, Season 7." When Luke Menard made the top eight, male vocals, we found it necessary to creat a page on Wikipedia. The page helped direct fans to our website, and we are grateful to be touring North America, year-round. By reinstating our Wikipedia page, you will be providing credibility to an independent band which has worked very hard for the last seven years to establish itself as one of the most professional vocal groups in the country.

WikiProject College football January 2009 Newsletter

The College football WikiProject Newsletter Issue XIV - January 2009
Project news It's a new year and the end of another college football season. Congratulations to the Florida Gators for winning the 2009 BCS National Championship Game. Two college football-related featured article candidates have been proposed: 2003 Insight Bowl and Jack Kemp need your comments, questions, and criticism to become featured articles. A backlog of college football good article nominees is developing. Six college football articles: 2008 ACC Championship Game, 2009 Orange Bowl, Julius Franks, Steve Morrison (American football), Bennie Oosterbaan and 2008 Humanitarian Bowl need to be reviewed for Good Article quality. A lengthy discussion about the use of team logos in different articles is under way, and your help and comments are requested. Because the argument has gotten heated at times, editors are reminded to stay civil and respect other viewpoints, even if you may disagree with them. An excellent overview about Wikipedia's rules for non-free images can be found here. The bowl season and the regular season are over, but that doesn't mean there isn't work still to be done. Rankings pages need to be updated, as do team seasons, pages of players who won major position awards, and coach changes. It's never too early to start thinking about spring football! Be sure to carry a camera and get pictures of players, teams, stadiums, and all the action and pageantry of college football. An excellent guide to taking pictures for WP:CFB can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/Images. Even if you don't think a photo can be immediately used for an article, try uploading it to Wikimedia Commons so future article authors can use it. The College Football Portal needs to be updated with featured articles and pictures. Do you have a great picture that illustrates the best of college football? Consider adding it to the featured image queue on the portal.	From JKBrooks85 Welcome to the latest issue of the College football WikiProject newsletter! I hope that you're enjoying regular updates about the goings on of college football on Wikipedia, but if not, feel free to add your name to the "no delivery" section on the newsletter signup page. Hi, I see you've been adding infoboxes to the articles about communes in the Haut-Rhin department. Are you planning to add content to the infoboxes?
