- Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page to follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons' policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring and sock puppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, doing so will result your account or IP being blocked from editing.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

File copyright problem with File:Abu Arz (GoC), Bach Maroun (LYM) and Abu Kamal (NLP) 1976.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Abu Arz (GoC), Bach Maroun (LYM) and Abu Kamal (NLP) 1976.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Armbrust WrestleMania XXVII Undertaker 19–0 23:46, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Inappropriate use of non-free images
editThank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. Please note that we take very seriously our criteria on non-free image uploads and users who repeatedly upload or misuse non-free images may be blocked from editing. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. O Fenian (talk) 22:56, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- Despite this message you made this edit and this edit. I suggest in the strongest possible terms you stop adding inappropriate non-free images to articles, otherwise I will be asking for you to be blocked. O Fenian (talk) 23:16, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Abu Arz (GoC), Bach Maroun (LYM) and Abu Kamal (NLP) 1976.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:Abu Arz (GoC), Bach Maroun (LYM) and Abu Kamal (NLP) 1976.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —GFOLEY FOUR— 22:17, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Problems with upload of File:Royal Lao Army cap badge.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Royal Lao Army cap badge.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.
To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Royal Lao Army cap badge.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Royal Lao Army cap badge.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 20:47, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello,
Due to your lack of an edit summary for your recent changes to this article, I cannot tell your reasoning in wanting to have a General overview section instead of a lead summarizing contents of the article. The latter is the standard format for Wikipedia articles, and you seem to have deviated from it on a whim.
When I previously merged the pre-existing General overview section into the inadequate lead, I gave my reasoning in my edit summary. If you have some undisclosed reason for your reversion, how about posting it on the article's Talk page?

Date of death of Emmanuelle Arsan
editHello Jopsach,
you here added the date of death of Arsan as June 12, 2005, citing a 2014 article in Lui magazine. Thanks for that reference. I got that article, but could not find the specific date June 12 there, it only says she died in June 2005. Where did you get the specific date June 12 from? Please clarify at Talk:Emmanuelle Arsan#When did she die?. Thank you. Regards --Rosenzweig (talk) 07:27, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. editHello! Thank you for your recent contributions to People’s Liberation Army (Lebanon). I did have one note for you. I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg
.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption
. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks!! Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Marada old.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Marada old.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:45, 30 January 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to a page, specifically M113 armored personnel carrier, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:20, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
Non-free image use
editThank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to a page, specifically 240 mm mortar M240, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:45, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
- Please do not keep re-adding non-free images to article such as M113 armored personnel carrier, etc.. The files you are adding (File:Logo of Lebanese Forces.png, File:Marada old.jpg and File:Noumour.jpg) are licensed as non-free content which means that each use of them in a Wikipedia article is required to satisfy all 10 of the non-free content criteria listed in WP:NFCCP. If you feel that the way you want to use the files does satisfy all 10 criteria, then please provide a valid non-free use rationale explaining why as required by WP:NFCC#10c. You should be aware, however, the way you want to use the images is decorative and would not satisfy WP:NFCC#8 because there is no real contextual reason to justify non-free use. There are also problems with using the images for the reasons given in WP:NFLISTS and MOS:LOGO. If you're not sure how to write a non-free rationale, you can ask for help at WP:MCQ or WT:NFCC. If you want to discuss whether the way you want to use the files complies with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy, then you can start a discussion about the files at WP:FFD. Continuing to re-add these files without making any attempt to comply with relevant policy is eventually going to be seen as disruptive and a copyright violation, and will lead to an administrator being asked to intervene. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:42, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Even though you've been previously asked to not inappropriately add non-free images such as File:Logo of Lebanese Forces.png and File:Noumour.jpg to articles, you continue to do so with edits like this, this, this and this. It's OK to make a mistake once, but repeating the same mistake after being advised not to is not. Please make sure to verify the licensing of any file before adding it to an article. If the file is non-free content, then you need to make sure the particular use complies with all 10 non-free content use criteria and then provide the required separate specific non-free use rationale explaining why. Just for reference, the way you've been using these "flag files" as flag icons is pretty much never considered an acceptable type of non-free use, so you're really going to have to provide a very strong policy-based justification for such use. This the third time you're being warned about the this type of thing,. If you continue to ignore these warnings, an administrator is going to be to intervene to prevent any further disruption. If you have any questions about non-free content use and why these files cannot be used in such a way, please ask for help at WT:NFCC or WP:MCQ. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:07, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
"Uraci" proposed for deletion
editHi. I proposed the article "Uraci" for deletion, as it was impossible to check the references provided. Neither Pliny nor Strabo wrote about a Celtiberian people called Uraci, and we could find no mention of Uraci in the modern references. If you think this is an error, please provide references in the talk page.
The article Uraci has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The references provided give not a single mention of this people. Most probably this is a fake page.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Franciscojhh (talk) 17:27, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give People's Liberation Army (Lebanon) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — MRD2014 Talk 04:01, 9 February 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Riviera Hotel Beirut
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Riviera Hotel Beirut, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Masum Reza📞 14:09, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Blog spamming
editPlease do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to List of weapons of the Portuguese Colonial War. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Haoreima (talk) 16:55, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

That IP address belongs to Surf Easy VPN. You need to disable your VPN and wait a full 24 hours for the block to clear. Yamla (talk) 18:29, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
edit Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Laotian Civil War into Royal Lao Army. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 01:50, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

South Vietnamese Military Police
editDo you have any WP:RS regarding the South Vietnamese Military Police (Quan Canh or QC)? There's no page on English WP, there is a page in Vietnamese WP: [Quân cảnh Việt Nam Cộng hòa], but is minimally referenced and I don't know how reliable any of it is. regards Mztourist (talk) 07:21, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
