Thanks for help on Brandywine Creek (Christina River)

Dear MED usgswrd,

It's always a pleasure to see somebody knowledgable contribute to an article I've been working on - on and off - for a long time. It's really one of the first articles that I edited in earnest on Wikipedia, and I'd like to "finish it" sometime, but won't have much of an opportunity until midsummer. Of course no WP article is ever finished (and there is no "ownership" of articles) but I'd like to put it in good enough shape to get a Good Article designation, or maybe even become a Featured Article. To that end in January I asked for some informal peer review from User:Ruhrfisch, look on the talk page for his suggestions. Also please notice the new pdf at the bottom of the external links list. If you'd really like to do some geology, watershed, general creeks type articles this may be the place to do it. Also I'll suggest looking for User:Ruhrfisch in other places as well, if you are looking for a model wikipedian to emulate in certain areas, he's the one.

My main interest in the article is historical and related to the early industrialization, but it obviously needs more than that. Hope this all fits into your agenda, but in any case, thanks for any help.

I hope I wasn't stepping on anyone’s toes with my addition of information to the Brandywine WP page. I am new as a "Wikipedian" and not completely familiar with its inner workings. However, I do have a working familiarity with the Brandywine Basin and felt the information regarding hydrology could be more robust. I did read the entire page and it was quite obvious that the author, which I can only assume is you, possesses a wonderful knowledge of the human history associated with the basin. As a geologist, I am interested in providing a thorough description of the basin’s current hydrologic and geologic conditions, along with the deep-time geologic history of the basin. It seems to me that a proper description of the Brandywine’s natural history will strengthen any description of its anthropogenic history. Everyone from the Lenape to the Wyeths, and even Hollywood (Marley and Me [2008]), have utilized this wonderful region of Pennsylvania. I have been published in certain geologic journals and have presented a good deal of my work, and all have been peer-reviewed. My intention is to strengthen this article to the best of my knowledge and ability. Thanks for the offer of further help. Of course in Wikipedia you can always just go ahead and do what you think is best. It does help sometimes to have a little coordination. Please do go ahead and make a map similar to

, if that's what you're asking.

The offending paragraph comes from somebody who wanted to identify the towns in the valley. However they didn't have a source, and I wasn't sure of which towns were where, so I got a source. Only problem: the source is wrong, at least in geological terms. I might stretch it to say that it is right in social or cultural terms. I think your solution - to say that they are all in the Christina watershed is factualy correct, but wrong in stylistic terms - the article is about the Brandywine, not about the Christina. Maybe the answer is to just get rid of that paragraph. But a map with some towns and watersheds could also be "perfect" if you wanted to do it that way. Thanks again.
