Paywall source / Garson

But the source doesn't mention anything about Garson! Govvy (talk) 23:39, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Govvy, I'm assuming this is about Willie Garson? You are correct that the first paragraph doesn't. Do you have evidence that the whole source doesn't mention him? Stuartyeates (talk) 23:49, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
Nope, but the source voids out because it's behind a paywall, the first paragraph doesn't mention him and it fails to deliver. These paywall sources aren't good for wikipedia. Govvy (talk) 23:58, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
Please read WP:PAYWALL. Stuartyeates (talk) 00:01, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Takapu Valley

I wrote an article on Takapu Valley which is one of the official suburbs of Wellington City, as you can see from the template at the bottom of the article (though like Makara Beach which is somewhat larger, it has only a small population on one road). Hence I think they each deserve their own article. Hugo999 (talk) 11:00, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi Hugo999, I've lived in Wellington most of my life and never heard of it, but apparently google maps has. At the end of the day this is a question of sources and I'm not sure the sources are there to be honest, but I'll not take it to AfD immediately. Stuartyeates (talk) 23:08, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
I would argue that official suburbs have inherent notability. Not all cities have them defined (e.g. suburbs or their boundaries aren't defined in Christchurch), but Wellington does. Schwede66 00:40, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
Is there a source for 'official suburbs' ? Stuartyeates (talk) 00:42, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
The 2013 census made Takapu an area unit. That's not the same as 'official suburb' but does suggest there is a community. Also, the growth in population of over 30% since the 2006 census seems quite impressive.-gadfium 01:20, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Pinging @User:Schwede66, @User:Grutness and @User:Calvin Hogg as editors of Template:Suburbs of Wellington City, which appears to be the source of the claim that 'Takapu Valley' is an 'official suburb' Stuartyeates (talk) 03:53, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

The same map is hosted by Wellington City Council. Schwede66 05:09, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
That's a great map. It's also a primary source and thus not suitable for claims that these are 'official suburbs.' Stuartyeates (talk) 09:41, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Huh? Who else, other than a district or city council, would you expect to define official suburbs? Schwede66 18:15, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
Well, the electoral commission and NZ Post have their own systems to start with, but that's not the point: a primary source is a primary source. Stuartyeates (talk) 21:12, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

What about this as a source? Grutness...wha? 00:33, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

Isn't that the census block? It includes most of tawa, unlike the WCC area. Stuartyeates (talk) 00:51, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jael and Sisera (Artemisia Gentileschi), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Canaanite. New Page Review - Newsletter No.4

Hello Stuartyeates,

Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 803 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!

But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

10:24:47, 23 June 2017 review of submission by Henne3

Hi Stuartyeates, thanks for taking a look at my submission! I've dug out all the articles I could find from Irish online magazines which get significant coverage in Ireland and among the Irish abroad. Some Berlin-based sources as well, one English-speaking and one radio piece in German. Do you think a re-submit would be successful now?

I won't be approving the article in it's current state. Not even close, sorry. Stuartyeates (talk) 04:43, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

This is to inform you that an attempt is being made to overturn an RfC that you commented on

This is to inform you that an attempt is being made to overturn an RfC that you commented on (2 RfCs, actually, one less than six months ago and another a year ago). The new RfC is at:

Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#RfC: Allow private schools to be characterized as non-affiliated as well as religious, in infobox?

Specifically, it asks that "religion = none" be allowed in the infobox.

The first RfC that this new RfC is trying to overturn is:

The result of that RfC was "unambiguously in favour of omitting the parameter altogether for 'none' " and despite the RfC title, additionally found that "There's no obvious reason why this would not apply to historical or fictional characters, institutions etc.", and that nonreligions listed in the religion entry should be removed when found "in any article".

The second RfC that this new RfC is trying to overturn is:

The result of that RfC was that the "in all Wikipedia articles, without exception, nonreligions should not be listed in the Religion= parameter of the infobox.".

Note: I am informing everyone who commented on the above RfCs, whether they supported or opposed the final consensus. --Guy Macon (talk) 04:22, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of MENALIB

The article MENALIB has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails Wikipedia:Notability (media) and Wikipedia:Notability (websites)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Stuartyeates, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

Speedy deletion nomination of William Magee Hunter

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on William Magee Hunter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on William Magee Hunter requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
