editThe article on the characters of the Simpsons Patty_and_Selma may have false information
editit says in the article Julie Kavner makes Patty's voice more masculine and a lower register, while Selma's voice is a little sweeter? I'm not sure who this is possible because they both sound the same...... Venustar84 (talk) 00:10, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Malayala Jyotisha Vedi Wikipedia
editThis has reference to the replies given by Rojomoke and ColinFine on 26/6/2014 I, Mullappilly Parameswaran, has another page of Wikipedia , ie., "Malayala Jyotisha Vedi - Wikipedia". It appears in the net as " User: Malayala Jyotisha Vedi Wikipedia." It is surely there and I have searched for it and found out it now also. I request help for that page. Hence kindly go to that page. (When I seek help from that page,it is directed to "Mulllappilly Parameswaran help page page".) Help is required for that page, "Malayala Jyotisha Vedi Wikipedia page" only.
1. Is there provision to change the title "Malayala Jyotisha Vedi" to "Dates in Indian history challenged" and place it as a topic in the Wikipedia Encyclopedia / Dictionary?
2. Kindly see the topic in the above wikipedia. The page-width has been exceeded in two paragraphs. Kindly do the "justify" alignment as in Page Maker pages.
- Please help me by doing the above two changes. I am an old man of 70 years and my knowledge in technical matters is poor.
This help request is because I want to make the Malayala Jyotisha Vedi Wikipedia to an independant article page under the new name and to delete the same article now saved in my sand box.
- Okay, I am not sure I entirely understand your question, but I will try to at least partly answer it. First of all, you can visit Wikipedia:Requested moves if you desire that a page's title be changed. Dustin (talk) 04:16, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Second, since it appears you are referring to a page in your userspace, User:Mullappilly Parameswaran/sandbox, I would suggest that you submit the article at Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Dustin (talk) 04:20, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Dear Sir, I am looking for practical help Please help me by doing above two changes.--Mullappilly Parameswaran (talk) 04:33, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I would have to suggest that doing so would be a complete waste of time. The article (if that is what it is intended to be) cites no inline sources whatsoever, and appears to be original research. It also appears to be arguing one side of a debate, rather than adhering to an encyclopaedic neutral point of view. It stands zero chance of being accepted as an article in its present state. AndyTheGrump (talk) 05:04, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Your second request, about the excessively long lines, has now been addressed. The problem appeared wherever you had started a line with a blank space. But I agree with AndyTheGrump, there is no chance that this page will be accepted as a Wikipedia article. Maproom (talk) 07:30, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- if you wish to see the topic addressed in a Wikipedia article the first step is to identify and cite some wp:reliable sources that discuss the topic. Ideally such sources should be secondary, analysis of other authors' writings on the topic. They should reflect both sides of academic disputes. Find such sources and you may have a place to begin an article afresh. LeadSongDog come howl! 14:55, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Trouble entering text in <ref > box.
editI am simply trying to add a name missing from Wiki's list of Winners of the Navy Cross in Vietnam. I can add name, etc, cannot enter text in <ref> box. Why? How? My source: <ref></ref> The Navy Cross-- Vietnam, Library of Congress Catalog Number 86-61999, ISBN 0-918495-15-6 Publisher, Sharp & Dunnigan Publications This is a standard source, purchased at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC Abouzeke (talk) 05:41, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I guess this must be about List of recipients of the Navy Cross in the Vietnam War — I'll see if I can help. Maproom (talk) 06:59, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I have fixed the various formatting problems, and added Rivers' name to the table. Maproom (talk) 07:16, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
referencing my article
editthis is the link to reference my article about "Markushevich basis" how should i reference it? there is always some errors please help me — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fsatanb (talk • contribs) 09:07, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- This is about Markushevich basis. I have fixed the problem
you mentionthat was causing an error message, by adding a {{reflistt}} template. But the article still has many problems — for instance, the first and fourth "references" do not actually cite anything. Maproom (talk) 10:06, 27 June 2014 (UTC)- I improved the ref. For others, this tool does a nice job of converting a Google books url into a decent citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sphilbrick (talk • contribs) 12:28, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Location map +
editI'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm looking for a little help with the location map + template, and could use the aid of someone who's good with such templates. Essentially, we've got this map translated from the Russian Wikipedia at User:Iryna Harpy/Donetsk Luhansk. I'd like to use it in the 2014 insurgency in Donetsk and Luhansk article, as it would be nice and demonstrative. The problem is that the markers are a bit cluttered, and that it would make sense to use a smaller scale map. Hence, I'd like to, if it is possible, transfer the markers to Donetsk and Luhansk oblast maps. The "module" for Donetsk already exists Module:Location map/data/Ukraine Donetsk Oblast, but there isn't one for Luhansk. I've found the appropriate map on the Commons, File:Lugansk province location map.svg, but I don't know how to make it a module. Once I've got the maps sorted, I don't know how to use this location map template at all. How would I transfer these markers onto the two new separate maps? I'm not very good with templates on the whole, so I'd really appreciate some help in developing these. They'd be quite useful for the article. RGloucester — ☎ 15:57, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- @RGloucester: I've created the module and it seems to be working (see sample). There is no information on where the exact boundaries of the map lie so I have had to estimate them from Google maps. If the pins don't go exactly where they should do then the border co-ordinates will need adjusting. SpinningSpark 13:23, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks so much! Do I merely transfer the coordinates from the original map into the new ones? RGloucester — ☎ 16:41, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, the coordinates will work the same, but as I said the map coordinates have been estimated by me so there could be some slight differences that need adjusting. SpinningSpark 18:31, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Retail Companies given valuable space on Wikipedia - Kudos
editI just finished reading the story about Harris Teeter
The subject and its details are very close to the limits of what is information and what is advertising, but I want to say that I really enjoyed it, and I commend the army of volunteers that made it possible. In the future, I will go to you more often when I want a complete, humanized story about any company. When the liberals and academics among you bring out the arguments about avoiding conflicts of interest, just remember that lots of us out here really appreciate the work being done by your Retail Companies section.
Kudos.
My next contribution to Wikipedia is on the way.
Many thanks,

Ann Wigmore - Citations.
editAnn Wigmore (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
I am with the Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute and I just finished updating her page. I notices that the first paragraph has 'citiation' after every sentence in the first paragraph. What exactly are you asking for - what am I supposed to add?
for example: all I wrote was ...More information....and a citation mark follows. That doesn't make sense. Can you please explain - especially when there is no citation for two words at the beginning of a sentence.
Please help. Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Awnhi (talk • contribs)
- @Awnhi: Hello. When we ask for a citation, we typically ask for something like this. All additions to a Wikipedia article should be supported by a reliable source - otherwise they can be tagged with {{fact}}, or simply removed. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 17:14, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Please see WP:RS for advice as to reliable sources and WP:REFB for formatting references. I should also point out that your user name is in violation of our user name policy which prohibits user names that represent companies or organisations, please see WP:ORGNAME.--ukexpat (talk) 17:19, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- To be frank having looked at the article, it's written more like a memorial tribute than an encyclopedia article. There are huge chunks of unsourced puffery. I removed some of it but a lot remains. It needs a lot more work to get it into shape.--ukexpat (talk) 17:27, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I have removed more of the promotional and unreferenced content. But I think that instead of cleaning it up piecemeal, it might be better just to revert the article to its state as at the end of May. Maproom (talk) 18:05, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- I've chopped out a bit more.--ukexpat (talk) 18:21, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
