Highlights

Croatia's Ivan Dodig, Spain's Tommy Robredo, Poland's Jerzy Janowicz and Russia's Andrey Kuznetsov all withdraw.

These players have been replaced by Ruben Bemelmans, Michael Berrer, Lukáš Lacko and Jan-Lennard Struff respectively.

Gaël Monfils, outgoing 1/2 finalist and two-time winner of the tournament, lost in the 1st round to his compatriot Édouard Roger-Vasselin 4-6, 65-7. Gilles Simon, seeded no. 3, was similarly disillusioned: exempted from the 1st round, he was eliminated by qualifier Dustin Brown 4-6, 4-6.

In singles, Richard Gasquet retained his title, defeating Paul-Henri Mathieu 7-5, 6-4. This is the 13th title of his career, the 3rd in Montpellier.

In doubles, Mate Pavić and Michael Venus win 7-5, 7-64 over Alexander and Mischa Zverev. This is their third title and second of the season.
