Arena
editQubein Center also the Qubein Arena is an basketball arena in High Point University. It is home to the High Point Panthers men's and women's basketball. They play on the Tubby & Donna Smith Court.[7] It is a 4,500 seated arena with luxury suites inside of the arena[8]. It can have up to 5,000 people in the arena. It is named after the President of High Point University, Nido Qubein. It also has the second-biggest jumbotron in all of North Carolina. [3] and long LED screen around the arena with wood panels on the roof like Madison Square Garden. They played their first game in the Qubein Center on Nov 6, 2021, against the Shenandoah Hornets and they beat them 59-108. The new arena replaced the Millis Athletic Convocation Center.
Events
editEver since the opening of the arena. It has held the 2024 Big South Conference men's basketball tournament.[9] Many concerts, many speeches, graduations, and many basketball games. Flo Rida Concert in 2023 [10] and Jason Derulo concert in 2024 [10]. It also held many events in the conference center inside the arena.
History
editThe Qubein Center was first announced in the Spring of 2016[11] to honor the Qubein family. It was planned to be 120 million dollars [12] with a new modern and open-spaced arena, conference center, and a small 5-star hotel and all of that to be on campus north of the Vert Stadmiun at the corner of Lexington Avenue and University Parkway in High Point. It was planned to be built in October 2020 but was delayed until 2021[13] when it was completed and where the big 350,000 square feet area is now.
Conference Center
editThe Qubein Conference Center is inside the big building and can seat up to 2,500 people simultaneously.[14] It can be used as announcements and venue for the university. It can be divided into smaller venues or groups or separate. It can also hold graduate events, student programs, and community organizations[15]
Hotel
editThe Kahn Hotel is a 5-star hotel with 30-40 guests and suite rooms.[8] with a fine-dining restaurant inside with a preimun experience.[16]. It has a double-marble staircase with a chandelier entrance. The rooms have an HPU themed beds with a nice carpet with a coach inside the room [17] also with a balcony [18]and a new gold style bathroom.[19]All inside of the new Qubein Center.
