Fahad Salahuddin (Sindhi: فھد مصطفي; born 26 June 1983)[3] known professionally as Fahad Mustafa (Urdu: فہد مصطفٰی) is a Pakistani actor and producer who works in Urdu films and television. Described in the media among the nation's highest-paid actors,[4][5] Mustafa is best known as the host of Jeeto Pakistan, the "biggest game show" of Pakistan.[6][7]

Mustafa started his acting career with Umrao Jaan Ada and had success with the dramas Main Abdul Qadir Hoon, Ek Tamanna Lahasil Si, Daagh, Kankar and Dusri Biwi. He then made his film debut with Na Maloom Afraad (2014) and appeared in the successful films Mah e Mir (2016), Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 (2018), Load Wedding (2018) and Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad (2022). Post a break from television, Mustafa returned to dramas with Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum (2024).[8]

Early life

Mustafa was born to a Sindhi family in Larkana, Pakistan. His father, Salahuddin Tunio,[9][10] is a well-known Sindhi actor, and he has two brothers and one sister.[11]

Although he initially pursued a degree in doctor of pharmacy at the Baqai Medical University in Karachi, but he dropped out before completing his studies.[12]

Career

Mustafa was first noticed in Sheeshay Ka Mahal.[13] In 2008, he ventured into television production. His other notable television serials include Yeh Zindagi Hai, Haal-e-Dil, Bahu Rani, Ae Dasht-e-Junoon, Masuri, Aashti, Pul Siraat, Mastana Mahi, Main Abdul Qadir Hoon, and Koi Nahi Apna.[10] He has been the host of the well-known game show Jeeto Pakistan since 2014.[14]

He hosted the 1st Hum Awards ceremonies in 2013 in Karachi, and the 2nd ARY Film Awards in 2016 in Dubai. In 2017, he hosted the launching ceremony for the Karachi Kings, a Pakistan Super League team franchise.[15] He then also hosted the opening ceremony of the 2017 Pakistan Super League in Dubai.[16]

He made his film debut in 2014 in director Nabeel Qureshi's Na Maloom Afraad. It was declared a box office hit.[17] In 2016, he starred in Anjum Shahzad's Mah e Mir and Qureshi's Actor in Law. Actor in Law did very well at the box office,[18][19][20] winning Film of the Year Award in the 16th Lux Style Awards, where Mustafa also won the Best Actor Award for his role in the film. He then had a voice role in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's animated film 3 Bahadur: The Revenge of Baba Balaam.[21][22] In 2018, he starred in Nadeem Baig's Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and Qureshi's Load Wedding; both of which released on same day, 22 August 2018.[23][24]

He will also be producing three films;[25] the first Anjum Shehzad's Band Toh Ab Bajay Ga, which will be written by Yasir Hussain;[26] the second one will be written by Ali Imran under ARY Films banner;[27] and a third one for which no details have been announced yet.[28]

Mustafa made his comeback to acting in the television industry in 2024 with Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum opposite Hania Amir, marking his comeback to television serials after nine years.

Personal life

In 2006, Mustafa married Pakistani writer Sana Fahad. The couple has two children, a daughter born in April 2011, and a son born in January 2016.[29][30][31]
