Distribution
editSouthern South America, throughout the Rio Uruguay basin, including its tributary Rio Negro, Uruguay where it is endemic.[3]
Taxonomy
editOsvaldo Oyakawa and George Mattox described Hoplias australis at the same time as Hoplias curupira.[4]
