He was best known for his small screen roles as Detective John Randall in The Link Men and as Godfrey Carson in the legal drama Carson's Law. Miles also appeared in Delta (1969), Dynasty (1970) and The Power, The Passion (1989).
Biography
editMiles was born in Melbourne, Victoria as one of six on 17 April 1929.[3] He started his career in theatre in 1949, and television roles from 1955.we worked for J.C. Williamson before starting his career in the United Kingdom with the Royal Shakespeare Company and touring England and Europe with Laurence Olivier and Vivian Leigh, Miles started his television career also in England appearing in theatre plays at the BBC.
He was a staple of theatre, but was best known for his numerous small screen roles best known for his numerous in Australian television serials and telemovies with roles in Hunter, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, Contrabandits, Barrier Reef Homicide, Division 4 and The Young Doctors but most especially Detective John Randall in The Link Men and as law firm owner Godfrey Carson opposite co-star Lorraine Bayly in the period piece legal drama Carson's Law, he paper din daytime drama The Power, The Passion in 1989 and retired in 1997.
Awards
editMiles won a Penguin Award commemoration for his portrayal of David Mason in the 1970s Australia TV series Dynasty (no relation to the US series) Dynasty) and in 1984 he won a Logie Award for the Best Lead Actor in a Series for his role as Godfrey Carson in Carson's Law
Miles died in Rye, Victoria on 13 September 2024, at the age of 95.[4]
