Career
editIn his first year with the PDC, Luke Woodhouse won a tournament on the PDC Challenge Tour and reached his next major final a year later. In 2015, he qualified for the UK Open and thus for his first major event.
He made his debut on the European Tour in May 2017. In 2018, he was able to earn a tour card at Q-School and several times reached the Pro Tour last 16. A year later, he was able to qualify for the UK Open again and was one of the last 32. He also reached the quarter-finals of the 18th Players Championship. At the Players Championship Finals, he beat defending champion Daryl Gurney 6-5 in the first round, but then lost to Gabriel Clemens.
Woodhouse qualified for the 2020 PDC World Championship via the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit. After a 3-0 win against veteran Paul Lim, he followed up with a 3-1 win against fourth-seeded Michael Smith. He then lost 2-4 to eventual quarter-finalist Dimitri Van den Bergh. At the 2020 Players Championship Finals he reached the round of 16. At the 2021 Players Championships he played a nine-darter against Danny Noppert at the Players Championship 4.
In 2023, Woodhouse recorded his most successful year to date at the PDC. He took part in the World Grand Prix for the first time and was able to defeat Dave Chisnall, who had been considered one of the favorites for the title beforehand. At the Players Championship Finals he also played his way into his first major quarter-final. These include wins over Simon Whitlock, Rob Cross and Chisnall again, before he lost to the German Gabriel Clemens. He threw another nine-darter at the Players Championship 24 against Richie Burnett.
At the 2024 European Championship, Woodhouse reached a first major televised semi-final, losing 11–5 to eventual winner Ritchie Edhouse.[3]
