Murdock is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kingman County, Kansas, United States.[1] As of the 2020 census, the population was 37.[2] It is 10 miles (16 km) east-southeast of Kingman.

The post office in Murdock was established in 1884, but it was called New Murdock until 1910.[3]

The 2020 United States census counted 37 people, 22 households, and 14 families in Murdock.[5][6] The population density was 160.9 per square mile (62.1/km2). There were 22 housing units at an average density of 95.7 per square mile (36.9/km2).[6][7] The racial makeup was 83.78% (31) white or European American (78.38% non-Hispanic white), 5.41% (2) black or African-American, 0.0% (0) Native American or Alaska Native, 0.0% (0) Asian, 0.0% (0) Pacific Islander or Native Hawaiian, 0.0% (0) from other races, and 10.81% (4) from two or more races.[8] Hispanic or Latino of any race was 5.41% (2) of the population.[9]

Of the 22 households, 22.7% had children under the age of 18; 50.0% were married couples living together; 18.2% had a female householder with no spouse or partner present. 36.4% of households consisted of individuals and 22.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.[6] The average household size was 1.5 and the average family size was 2.1.[10] The percent of those with a bachelor’s degree or higher was estimated to be 0.0% of the population.[11]

8.1% of the population was under the age of 18, 2.7% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 27.0% from 45 to 64, and 32.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 57.5 years. For every 100 females, there were 105.6 males.[6] For every 100 females ages 18 and older, there were 100.0 males.[6]
