Shahrekord County (Persian: شهرستان شهرکرد) is in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Shahr-e Kord.[3]

History
editAfter the 2006 National Census, Kiar District was separated from the county in the establishment of Kiar County.[4] In addition, the village of Vardanjan was elevated to the status of a city.[5] Dastgerd Rural District and the city of Farrokh Shahr were separated from their districts in the formation of Farrokhshahr District, which was divided into two rural districts, including the new Qahfarrokh Rural District.[6]
After the 2011 census, Ben and Saman Districts were separated from the county to establish Ben County and Saman County, respectively.[7] Additionally, the village of Haruni rose to city status.
In 2023, Farrokhshahr District was separated from the county in the establishment of Farrokhshahr County.[8]

editAt the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 362,381 in 91,273 households.[9] The following census in 2011 counted 340,382 people in 95,406 households.[10] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 315,980 in 93,104 households.[2]
