Sharda University, Greater Noida, is a private university in Uttar Pradesh, established in 2009 under the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature Act No.14 of 2009 and is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) with the right to confer degrees as per Section 22(1) of the UGC Act,1956.

History

Sharda University traces its origins to establishing the Sharda Group in 1996, founded by Shri.Pradeep Kumar Gupta and Shri.Yatendra Kumar Gupta. The group aims to provide high-quality education, health facilities, and skill development in various disciplines. Based on this ideology, Sharda University was formally established in 2009 to create a globally recognised centre of higher learning. The university was conceived with a vision to foster academic excellence, promote innovation, and nurture entrepreneurship, serving as a hub for students and scholars from diverse backgrounds.

Since its inception, Sharda University has made significant strides in transforming the educational landscape. The university has expanded its reach through various impactful initiatives, such as establishing Sharda Hospital, which contributes to healthcare education and services, and Sharda University campuses in Uzbekistan and Agra, broadening the university's international and national footprint. Sharda World School and Sharda Care - Healthcity have been launched to integrate primary education, and advanced healthcare in the ecosystem of the Sharda Group.

Chancellor

Shri.Pradeep Kumar Gupta is the Chancellor of Sharda University and the Founder of Sharda Group. In 1995, he established the Sharda Education Trust, under which he began the first educational venture of the Sharda Group, Hindustan Institute of Science & Technology. In 1998, he opened another college in Agra, Anand Engineering College. Mr.Gupta was honored with the Udyog Ratna Award in 2001 and a year later with the Uttar Pradesh Ratna Award.

Pro Chancellor

Shri.Yatendra Kumar Gupta is Sharda University's Pro-Chancellor and Sharda Group's Co-Founder. He was awarded the INDIA SKILL AWARD-2014, during the Australia-India Skills Conference 2013.

Vice-Chancellor

Prof. (Dr.) Sibaram Khara has been the Vice-Chancellor of Sharda University since 2020. Dr. Khara is an Electronics & Communication Engineer and editor of the International Journal of Research and Reviews in Next Generation Networks (IJRRNGN) (UK) and the International Journal of Research and Reviews in Wireless Sensor Networks (IJRRWSN) (UK).

Pro Vice-Chancellor

Dr.Parma Nand is the current Pro Vice-Chancellor of Sharda University. With over 27 years of experience in industry and academics, Dr. Parma Nand has published more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed international/national journals and conferences.

Registrar

Dr. Vivek Kumar Gupta is currently the Registrar of Sharda University, and his position involves a wide range of responsibilities. He is the Secretary of the Governing Body, Executive Council, Academic Council, and Planning Board and oversees the management of academic records, student registration, course scheduling, etc.

In 2024, 11 faculty members from Sharda University were recognised among the top 2% of scientists globally by Stanford University, reflecting the university's commitment to academic excellence and research.

Sharda University holds several rankings, including NAAC A+ accreditation, 86th Rank in India by NIRF, and is ranked amongst the leading universities in South Asia by QS Asia University Rankings 2024. Furthermore, a select few of Sharda University's Engineering programmes have received accreditation from the NBA (National Board of Accreditation). Sharda University was ranked 3rd in North India by Times Engineering for its engineering programmes.

Sharda University has been registered as a full-fledged by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and has the right to award the degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956.

Sharda University is recognized by the Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Bar Council of India, Pharmacy Council of India, Indian Nursing Council, Council of Architecture, and NCTE. Students who graduated from Sharda University are eligible to appear for CAT, GATE, and UPSC.

Additionally, Sharda University offers semester exchange programmes with renowned universities, including ADA University (Azerbaijan), Karabuk University (Turkey), University of Monterrey (Mexico), University of Cyprus (Cyprus), Manisa Celal Bayar University (Turkey), Myongji University (South Korea), and the University of Area Andina (Colombia), along with several other prestigious institutions across the globe.

Infrastructure

Sharda University has a large campus spread across 63 acres, equipped with modern amenities. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled, with air-conditioned classrooms and various indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The university library which is named Swami Vivekanand Library contains over 151,000 books and 10,000 theses. There are five large auditoriums—Anand Swaroop Auditorium, Dhanwantri Auditorium, Chanakya Auditorium, APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium, and Visvesvaraya Auditorium—used for international and national events, conferences, workshops, seminars, and cultural programs. Accommodation for students is provided in nine hostels: Indra, Sarojini, Kasturba, Mother Teresa, Jawahar, Tagore, Vivekanand, Vardhman, and Mandela, available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campus also offers food options such as Subway, Café Coffee Day, and Amul.

Sharda Online

Sharda Online, launched by Sharda University in 2023, is an online learning platform offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The undergraduate program available is a BA in Political Science, while the postgraduate offerings include MCA and MBA. The MBA programme offers specialisations in Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Finance, and Healthcare & Hospital Management.

Sharda University regularly publishes two research journals , JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL RESEARCH (JSTR) and INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT ISSUES AND RESEARCH (IJMIR). In addition to this Sharda School of Law publishes Sharda Law Review, a bi-annual blind peer-reviewed journal.
