History

Sultan Kudarat State University was formerly known as Sultan Kudarat Polytechnic State College (SKPSC). It was established in December 5, 1990, by virtue of RA 6973,[3] otherwise known as the SKPSC Charter. Unlike other state colleges, SKPSC was established out of five previously Department of Education Culture and Sport (DECS) – supervised high schools in five municipalities of the province. The five high schools in Isulan, Kalamansig, Palimbang, Tacurong and Lutayan became the core for the creation of Sultan Kudarat Polytechnic State College.

On January 18, 2010, Republic Act No. 9966,[4] was signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, converting the Sultan Kudarat Polytechnic State College into a university, known as Sultan Kudarat State University. Dr. Teresita L. Cambel was the first president of the university. [5] Its main campus, known as, Administration Center and Central Educational Site and Services (ACCESS), was located in Sitio Dos, Barangay EJC Montilla, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.
