The quote about the newspapers and who reads them was originally heard in a stand-up (or in his case, sit down with a glass of Irish and a smoke) routine by Dave Allen. Surely we can find a ref for that. xxx

Dave Allen may well have used the routine but they were originally written by Brian Redhead and Kevin Grant http://www.pressreader.com/uk/daily-mail/20150126/282707635463501

I remember Brian Redhead saying he got paid for it, but he's no longer around.... Scholia
