CoS vs. QoS

edit

I think the relationship between Class of Service and Quality of Service as described in this article is misleading, particularly the statement:

"Unlike Quality of Service (QoS) traffic management, Class of Service technologies do not guarantee a level of service in terms of bandwidth and delivery time; they offer a "best-effort."

A differentiated data service typically offers a hierarchy of Classes of Service with each suitable for a particular type of traffic, the lowest CofS typically being "Best Effort" Higher Classes of Service may be defined in terms of their offered Quality of Service. --Rjnott (talk) 11:29, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree. QoS is an umbrella term. CoS is a specific mechanism used to achieve or help achieve QoS. I have made bold edits to the article --Kvng (talk) 19:26, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation

edit

This article is part disambiguation and part COS description. I've added main template here and updated Cos (disambiguation) to try and get things headed in the right direction. It's not right yet. Feel free to help untangle this. --Kvng (talk) 20:41, 25 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
