Why? It is very different!

Scope
editI've just clarified the lead - this topic relates to "covered steaming with rot rocks". That's why merging with Oven isn't sensible, and why the text regards the tandoor was removed . Snori (talk) 22:18, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- If that is in fact the case, then the topic of the article is too narrow to begin with, as earth oven cooking is not inherently a moist method of cooking. In fact I have some further material to add on the matter. I've restored the references to tandoori and masonry oven as being technologically relevant. Haikupoet (talk) 03:20, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Fire pit
editIs there a difference btw an earth oven and a fire pit? Creuzbourg (talk) 16:30, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- Not much that I can see. A merge may be in order. bd2412 T 18:26, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
Language and consistency
editI have done a light edit to improve grammar, spelling and punctuation, as requested in the issues section. There are still inconsistencies, in that there is a mixture of American and British English and a mixture of metric and imperial units. Also, the meaning of the first sentence in the second paragraph of "The Pacific" was too unclear for me to be sure that I could edit it without changing the meaning. Perhaps the author could look at it?
Advert
editIt's not unreasonable imho to have a section in the article discussing modern versions of hangi/umu - and perhaps links to some news stories about examples. However, it is NOT reasonable to have a whole section pushing one product - as an anon user has been doing. - Snori (talk) 17:09, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
