editShouldn't this be categorized in Category:Farming tools also? --217.209.114.48 (talk) 22:20, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Old, uncited claim
editI removed this, as it had been tagged with "citation needed" since 2010: " The French Revolution was mostly fought with agricultural tools." I'm leaving it here in case it can be sourced someday. A. Parrot (talk) 19:00, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
Making hay in a canoe
edit... one stick is held and swung, causing the other (the swipple) to strike a pile of grain, loosening the husks.
Okay, so the stalks are first harvested, then piled and finally thrashed.
But in many places, such as Minnesota, wild rice can only be harvested legally using manual means, specifically through the use of a canoe and a flail that is made of smooth, round wood no more than 30 inches long.
Is the canoeist standing or sitting? Is the rice standing or piled?
More detail on how much is piled, and how the grains is recovered afterward, etc. would greatly help to dispel these conflicting mental images. — MaxEnt 20:43, 28 December 2019 (UTC)

– There doesn't seem to be a primary topic here, though, if anything, the weapon is the primary topic. I have no qualms with either this or moving the weapon to primary instead, but, either way, the tool clearly should not be here. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 15:31, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- Support the weapon has 8,360 views compared with only 2,714[[1]] for the tool. Crouch, Swale (talk) 23:03, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed, disambiguate it, as people might also be looking up the verb of flailing, wikt:flail, or any of a number of derived usages like flail chest and indeed mine flail that's already listed. --Joy (talk) 14:38, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
