Gevorkian Seminary → Gevorgian Seminary – WP:COMMONNAME Երևանցի talk 06:22, 13 April 2014 (UTC) User:Zyzzzzzy moved the page (without a request) from Gevorgian Seminary to Gevorkian Seminary claiming Գևորգ is transliterated to Gevork, which is partly true, but Gevorg is more common and more precise. Google Books yields

- Armenian Apostolic Church-related transliterations and pronunciations should be done based on the traditional Armenian pronunciation (and orthography in case of possibility), and not based on the common or the reformed one, as the language used by the church is still the traditional Armenian. Hence, the word Սուրբ is transliterated Surp; not Surb, the same goes to Գէորգ (Գևորգ): Gevork and not Gevorg. In addition, for this article in particular, the Gevorkian Seminary is registered as a theological university under the name Gevorkian, not Gevorgian.--Zyzzzzzy (talk) 07:17, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: no consensus. Neither of the arguments here are particularly convincing – the most common name is of much more importance than the official name – so we default to the status quo. Jenks24 (talk) 08:54, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
Gevorgian Seminary → Gevorkian Theological Seminary – It is officially named Gevorkian Theological Seminary as per the official website of the Armenian Church official web. It has the status of Theological University registered by the Ministry of Education of Armenia under the name Gevorkian Theological Seminary link2. - Oppose seminary cannot be a secular institution. theological in the title is simply redundant. it would make sense if it was called the "Gevorgian Theological School", but the term "seminary" means "a special school providing education in theology--Երևանցի talk 17:52, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- However, it is officially registered with the name mentioned above.--Spetsnaz1991 (talk) 04:05, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
