editShouldn't it be the Gross Enrollment ratio? ... No, nevermind, British spelling that's used by the United Nations --Thatnewguy 18:19, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Request clarification
editAs to the means by which this ratio is calculated,
...(GER) is calculated by dividing the total number of students enrolled at each level (regardless of age) by the population of the age group that 'should' be enrolled at that level
There is no frame of reference for the population that "should" be enrolled. How is this factor quantified in the general statistic? What's the actual formula? --Caen 04:27, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- The UN HDI report defines it as 'of official school age', so I put that in, with the qualifier that it's only on the UN one. Perhaps different organizations (national ones, for example) would use a different measure? It's open to clarification. NByz 18:08, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
there are some confusions when refer this calculations in different articles and books. accrording to my reading, it has been noted that one-third of the wight is given to the mean years of schooling for persons over 25 years of age. so how do approach this? Gross enrolment ratio → Gross enrollment ratio – most sources use the double-l spelling. Roundish ⋆tc) 04:20, 10 March 2023 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). ❯❯❯ Raydann(Talk) 17:46, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

- @Roundish: There has been previous moves regarding single and double, so this would be WP:PCM. Please click the discuss' link to open a formal WP:RM discussion, then remove this request from this listing. Thanks! - UtherSRG (talk) 14:32, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose: This seems to be an WP:ENGVAR matter. Apparently, "enrolment" is the British spelling and "enrollment" is the American spelling. This is discussed explicitly at American and British English spelling differences § Doubled in American English. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:58, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per MOS:RETAIN. The article originally used British spelling and has been stable at this title except for a few short-lived attempts to change to American spelling. Favonian (talk) 18:00, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
