Lead photograph
editHello Huddersfielders!
I just wondered, what is the chance of getting a nice townscape image for the lead? Akin to say something like Barnsley, Edenfield, Runcorn etc?
Other than that, the article is coming along nicely. The WP:UKCITIES guide might give a nudge in a few directions not already considered or addressed in the article. -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:05, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi James! Its something that I have been contemplating for a while, but stock images of the town and my personal collection are a bit out of date with all the current changes to the town centre. I am waiting until the appalling weather here is over and the more colourful and sunny scenery of spring comes back. Then I will be out and about with my camera again to capture a decent image for the top of the infobox. Until then I have put a reasonable image in it. Richard Harvey (talk) 16:44, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Richard!... That's a fantastic image! One of the best I've seen!... Of course Geograph.co.uk has some stuff for the town as does Flickr.com, if you really wanted to change what you have! -- Jza84 · (talk) 19:56, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Image comment! As for Geograph and Flickr; I make a point of only uploading my own photo's. Other than Historical ones from my own private collection. That way there is no comeback on potential copyright issues. Richard Harvey (talk) 21:08, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

- All of Geograph's photographs are avaliable under a Creative Commons licencing agreement that is compatable with WikiCommons. Most of Flickr's work is not, but, there is an advanced search option that allows users to filter work that is and is not under a "free-to-use" licence. Hope that helps! -- Jza84 · (talk) 22:59, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
The Queen
editNot sure if the reference to the Queen is in the right place. It was a memorable visit, if even only for the arrest of Daniel Bleazard Thozza (talk) 19:24, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- The info was somehow accidentally returned to the page when I moved other text to another article. It has now been removed. Its a type of detail more suitable to a blog page website than wikipedia. Richard Harvey (talk) 00:08, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Train Service to Sunderland
editA small thing but Huddersfield to Newcastle upon Tyne services operated by TPE since 2004 have not been extended to Sunderland, local services now being operated from Newcastle by Northern. I will therefore delete Sunderland from the list of regular direct train services.JohnB57 (talk) 19:56, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Galpharm image
editI would say the image is helpful for the page. It is probably the best known structure in Huddersfield. This is normal for most pages. Leeds, Hull, Bradford all have images of the main stadia in the city. I would say this image is more relevent then that of the Hudderfield Giants badge, which should be only used on the Giants page really. I am going to remove the Giants badge image and replace it with the Galpharm image. Should anyone have any objection to this, then please add to the talk page before removing this. Thanks Mtaylor848 (talk) 18:58, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Sources for Future Developments section
editDoes anyone have any sources for the figures listed? I've been trying to find out about the budget for the St George's Quarter scheme and all I've been able to find is that the square itself was budgetted at £3million and it was a million over budget. (Scaeme (talk) 22:25, 24 October 2009 (UTC))
Music Festival
editThere's a Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival article. I recommend to mention this festival in the Huddersfield article. (My English is lacking too much -- I shall not try to add text.) -- Juetho (talk) 07:36, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- There is already a brief mention in the "Music" section. Keith D (talk) 19:13, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Music
editThis article is too much focused on contemporary/rock music for my liking. Missing is for example The Royal College of Organists (RCO). I think in general, a broader view to musical life and education is recommended. Who could expand the article? Wolfgang Kaul (talk) 22:42, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
