I-124 has to exist

edit

In addition to being shown on current TDOT city/county maps, I-124 has to exist for one simple reason: that part of US 27 has no "secret" state route number. --NE2 17:55, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

yea, it has been exist, but literally eliminate. merge it anywhere?--Freewayguy Talk Contribs 19:42, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Category key

edit

What is the category key "24-1" signify? If it was "I124", that would make more sense. Allen (talk) 22:42, 4 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

3dIs are typically sorted as XX-Y into Interstate-related categories. The XX is the parent number and the Y is the first digit; this way they sort after their parent articles. Imzadi 1979  00:40, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
So, should the category keys of all the 3di's be re-formatted in this manner? Or can "I124" (for example) be okay? Allen (talk) 00:50, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The sortkeys should be XX-Y for Interstate-related categories and IYXX for the others. That way the articles stay sorted by number in Category:Interstate Highways in Tennessee but also by type and number in Category:Transportation in Hamilton County, Tennessee. Imzadi 1979  00:58, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
That still leaves the question of whether the sort keys for the categories in every Interstate highway, 2di, as well as 3di, should be changed to the same format? Allen (talk) 01:07, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Isn't that what I said? Imzadi 1979  01:10, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
I guess I just don't understand. Allen (talk) 01:24, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Interstate-related categories, like Category:Interstate Highways in Tennessee should be using the XX-Y sortkeys to keep the parent highways with their auxiliaries, but other categories like Category:Transportation in Hamilton County, Tennessee should be IYXX style. That's what I did when I updated all of the sortkeys for Michigan, Interstate and US Highways inclusive. Imzadi 1979  01:31, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I-124 status

edit

After a few quick web scans, I wanted to say here that I'm not seeing any recent publication on I-124, which makes me doubt that it still exists. Are we sure that this designation is even used anymore? If it's not, this needs to be changed to a former route. ChessEric 19:21, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@ChessEric: given that the designation is unsigned, there may not be a lot of recent publication on it. Have you double checked the FHWA Route List and Finder Log to see if it's still listed there? Table 2 has it, so it's still a current designation. Imzadi 1979  02:55, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
It is still designated but unsigned. Multiple news articles about the recent reconstruction refer to it, albeit unsigned. This article says the signs were removed because of motorists who had trouble distinguishing them from I-24 signs, which, full disclosure, is consistent with what longtime residents of the area have told me personally. On an unrelated note, the KML file needs to be updated to reflect the straightening of the curve through the 4th Street interchange. Bneu2013 (talk) 03:28, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay. I understand now. There is a map I look at on my phone that will only show interstates in a certain zoom position. Although unsigned, I can see where I-124 is, so I think that wraps up this inquiry. ChessEric 20:50, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
