Major objection to deletion
editThere is a potential problem here, jazzfm.com is not just a website but also a radio station which had a potential audience of 8 million people and a reach of hundreds of millions in Europe via satellite. If that isn't notable enough, then 80% of radio station articles on Wikipedia would also have to be deleted. There are thousands of radio stations in the UK which broadcast to a much lesser number of people. If the person deleting the article wishes to have a very large list of these stations to nominate for AfD, I can provide it. --tgheretford (talk) 09:11, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- The Jazz FM website is also the third top link provided on a google search for "jazz" --tgheretford (talk) 09:15, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hopefully the point raised in the prod tag should now have been resolved. I have had to move the page back to Jazzfm.com from Jazz FM (website), because the station name is jazzfm.com (see WP:NAME). --tgheretford (talk) 18:28, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
September relaunch - title of article
editWith confirmation that the station will relaunch in September on a number of DAB multiplexes and on digital satellite television, I propose in accordance with relevant guidelines at WP:WPRS that the article name should change from jazzfm.com to Jazz FM (UK digital radio station), keeping the disambiguation in place. This change should only be done once Jazz FM relaunches. Objections or any better suggestions? --tgheretford (talk) 21:26, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, make that October 6th... still, any better article title suggestions? --tgheretford (talk) 08:39, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
I have come up with two ideas which override what I wrote above:
- Move the current Jazz FM page to Jazz FM (disambiguation). Then move jazzfm.com to Jazz FM on October 6th (because it will be the most appropriate primary topic as per WP:DISAM) and add the following to the top of the page:
- This would be the ideal solution, but if that is too long by consensus, we could use the following as a compromise:
- As I wrote originally, keep everything as it is but rename jazzfm.com as Jazz FM (UK digital radio station).
I would now favour option 1. Anyone suggest anything better? --tgheretford (talk) 21:14, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Just in case anyone reads this, another editor elsewhere suggested "Jazz FM (UK)", which I agree with (why do I never think of the obvious ones?). --tgheretford (talk) 13:09, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
