editI, FK, am of the school of thought which claims that digital thought costs so very little , a billionth of a dollar per word, that as an Encyclopedia, the Wikipedia has room for a full reference to all that is of educational importance . Hence the expansion towards a more complete or thorough relation of this figure . I take this information from the work of R.D'O. Butler's The Roots of National Socialism published in 1941 by Faber and Faber, London . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Famekeeper (talk • contribs) 11:01, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
Instuction
editAre you sure the book title is "On the Spirit of Hebrew Poetry. An Instuction for Lovers of the Same and the Oldest History of the Human Spirit" with "Instuction" missing the 'r'? My guess is that he would have spelled the name of his own book correctly. Can we confirm the title is correctly misspelled on the discussion page? --darklilac 20:25, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Herder is not given an influenced list. I. Berlin was very influenced by Herder, as his Collected Essays show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.189.76.18 (talk) 17:04, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Age 17 in 1752?
edit1752 - 1744 = 8. Which number is wrong? Kotabatubara (talk) 23:13, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Strange
editI am not a Herder expert but I did compare this Article to the German version (which has a wealth of citations) and I am surprised by the striking differences, especially the overly strong (and somewhat sensational) emphasis on nationalism in the English version. Is the "spew out the ugly slime of the Seine" quote a good way to open the section on "Work and Ideas"? Wouldn't it be helpful to discuss the differences between Herder's nationalism and the nationalism of the 19th century? Also what exactly is "national pantheism"? Are those exotic descriptions appropriate for Wikipedia? Anyway, I feel that this is a poorly written Article that portrays Herder in a undeservingly negative light. It would be mildly interesting to learn where this text actually comes from. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.233.154.120 (talk) 16:11, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
Search
editThe Search function (upper right hand corner) does not find this Article if one types in Herder. Can someone please fix this? I don't know how. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.233.155.142 (talk) 16:35, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Except for a paragraph on a prophecy about Hungary, it just relies on one reference. It has an infobox, seems well written, has lots of illustrations, is well-structured. Bob Burkhardt (talk) 13:54, 2 January 2009 (UTC) |
