editI have little desire to get into an edit war. Just so you understand some of my reverted changes (which I will not change back for the moment), I am listing below the rationale for my changes:
Things are not "soaked into plain water" they are "soaked in plain water, and "plain water" is an awkard expression.
"Then they will be cook on the medium heat" tense is wrong and in passive voice, and its never "the medium heat" but just "medium heat."
"To create such casing of weaved coconut leaves, someone has to have a very good skill", sentence is backwards, skill should be first, casing should be plural.
"Rendang is a spicy schredded beef or chicken cuisine which made of coconut milk and some traditional spices and remedies."
It may be a spicy shredded dish but it is not a cuisine. A cuisine refers to all the food prepared in a region. "Malaysian cuisine." Shredded has no "c" in it and remedies is not a word normally employed as a cooking term. In most instances, "remedies" refers to a medicinal concoction. Words that you might use instead of remedies are "herbs" "ingredients" etc.
"Sometimes ketupat will also be served together with blended peanut cuisine which taste very delicious"
Same problem with the word "cuisine," "taste" should be plural (tastes) and that part of the sentence expressing an opinion should probably be removed as not in keeping with the formal tone of an encyclopedia. --Fuhghettaboutit 03:58, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

- Original article Ketupat and Rendang was made into a redirect and text was pasted to Ketupat. --Fuhghettaboutit 15:44, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Done. By the way, "rendang" should probably be lowercase. I haven't moved it as I don't know the topic well, but be aware of the title rules laid out in Wikipedia:Naming conventions. Snoutwood (talk) 16:29, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- I am completely unfamiliar with the subject as well. I did a copyedit many moons ago, and noted the cut and pasted move today.--Fuhghettaboutit 16:32, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, I've performed the move. If you think of a better title, feel free to revert me or change it to whatever else. Snoutwood (talk) 16:38, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Wait - since we already have an article on rendang, shouldn't this page be at Ketupat? I'm confused... did I put it at the wrong place? Snoutwood (talk) 16:40, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- I've put the merged content back at Ketupat and dabbed Ketupat and rendang. Hope that works, if you disagree feel free to change it. Snoutwood (talk) 16:47, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- I thought I had requested the page be kept as Ketupat but the history merged. I'm sure it was my mistake with the tags--my main goal was having the edit history fixed. Yes, the article should be under the name Ketupat I would think, as the current text only mentions Rendang in passing. As for the lowercase issue, although redirects are cheap, I don't think either are necessary; it's not a likely name search, and as you note, an article on rendang alone already exists. So it seems everything is copacetic now.--Fuhghettaboutit 16:49, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ah I see you made a dab page--looks good. The problem is, as outsiders, we don't know how closely associated the two terms are--is this fish and chips? or is this just the original author's quirky name--salami sandwich WITH MUSTARD? Doesn't appear to matter at this point. If the dab page is necessary, it exists, if it isn't, it can be deleted in the future.--Fuhghettaboutit 16:56, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Good point. I've refactored the only link to that page and Im about to delete it. Snoutwood (talk) 17:43, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

I think puso should not be in this segment because it means heart and has nothing to do with ketupat... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.147.44.87 (talk) 21:54, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
"Idul Fitri and Hari Raya Aidilfitri"
editDon't both refer to Eid al Fitr?
Ketupat and Lontong
editwell, ketupat is wrapped in a woven coconut leaf and lontong is wrapped in banana leaf— haditahir (talk) 14:37, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
In my opinion both are basically the same dish (there may be regional variations). I have added a cross-link to both pages, but I think they should be combined into one article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 221.169.231.183 (talk) 15:49, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Hari Raya Ketupat
editi don't know if this info would be usefull or not, but AFAIK, some Javanese people believe that Ketupat is actually some kind of ritual food from old tradition (probably Hindu or Chinese tradition). Making and serving ketupat on non-ritual days was forbidden.
They also believe that ketupat was adopted to Islam by Walisanga.
Nowaday, there are some communities in the island of Java that still holds the tradition of not making ketupat on a common days, so ketupat is served only during Lebaran and Hari Raya Ketupat on that particular areas.

Some people said that Kupat/Ketupat has been around in Island of Java since at least 11th century, since it was mentioned in Kakawin Ramayana, Kakawin Subrada Wiwaha, and Kidung Sri Tanjung. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2400:9800:7C2:D3B6:9E4:3DCD:BD6F:B6CC (talk) 08:28, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
