editMan, a lot has changed since I last visited this article, and no discussion about it. Okay, some ideas and comments: 1) Do we list dieties referenced in the show or not, since they have been removed since my lst visit. 2) I believe that most of the minor creatures should be covered here, not given seperate articles. As such, what basic criteria should each entry cover? I don't think a info box is appropriate, just some basic guidelines. Majin Gojira 04:17, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Another thing to discuss is exactly how to classify certain entities. This mostly comes up in the "Immortals and Non-Humans" sectrion. Drogyn is specifically stated to be an ehnanced human, but one of his enhancements is Immortality. And other creatures (Furies, Dinza, etc) belong under "dieties" due to their role in the universe. This needs to be discussed. Majin Gojira 20:39, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
Wesley states that Drogyn was given eternal youth in Power Play. And I put Dinza specifically in Higher Beings and Deities.--Gonzalo84 19:52, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- Among other powers. To quote Wesley: "Gunn, this is Drogyn, the battlebrand, given eternal youth a thousand years ago. Demonbane, truthsayer." In other words, he is also an ehnacned human. On that note, is not a mortal being granted immortality in of itself an ehnancement? The section needs revision. I am asking you for any input on how to do this before I go proposing any ideas, since you seem to be in a flurry of edits as of late. Majin Gojira 02:50, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I divided "Enhanced Humans" from Immortals based on the simple detail of aging. Enhanced humans have some sort of power, but they age, and are easily killed. Under "immortals" I placed those who do not age, like Drogyn, or Hamilton... well, I also put the Oracles and the Tribunal 'cause they don't seem that godlike, and the Shrouded Shaman from Enemies cause he looked just like the Tribunal Judges.--Gonzalo84 17:18, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Hamilton is only implied to be very old, Immortality is not confirmed, nore does immortality confer that a being be difficult to kill (See: Drogyn, neck snapped). As for the Oracles and the Tribunal not being Godlike, when they are clearly treated with respect and as creatures of great power, that just doens't make sense and wreaks of opinion--no place on Wiki for that. Finally, your classification based on visual appearance is just...cheap and undermining. They both wore shrouds and are thus similar? That just doens't make sense in any way, shape of form! Fyarl Demon spelling
editShooting Script is one source. DVD Subtitles and two official guides say "Fyarl". Amount of source material outwieghs your seources. Secondly, AFAIK, the Shooting Scripts relased only go to Season 3, mid-way. So do cite the source of your "Shooting Script" for it may just be a fan transcript. Majin Gojira 06:07, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Shadowmen Classifications
edit1) Shadowmen, even if they ARE immortal, are primarily magic-users. 2) The nature of the portal is not known: it may exist outside space and time, or it may have been temporal in nature. Eitehr way, there is no direct evidence for Immortality. 3) Finally, EDIT SOMETHING ONCE. Hundreds of little edits are very annoying and need to be kept to a minumum, as they cluter the history pages. Majin Gojira 04:44, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- If I did a long series of edits its because I missed a detail or remembered after editing another section (like adding Yarbney and Borets demons to the demons list). I know its annoying... just imagine how annoying it might be if you take twenty minutes editing an entire section, check it and save the change only to find out minutes (or seconds) later that you missed something.--Gonzalo84 22:59, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
- That may be what you think, but it's not what the history suggests:
- 03:21, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Immortals and Non-Humans)
- 03:16, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Robots)
- Look at that, 4 minutes appart and you're editing a different topic.
- 03:14, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Non-Demon Monsters)
- 03:14, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Non-Demon Monsters)
- Here's is what you are talking about: editing the same section multiple times. That kind of thing can be excused once, twice, heck, I've done it myself 3 times, but below is where it just gets ridiculous.
- 03:12, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Deities and Higher Beings)
- 03:11, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Wizards, Witches, Sorcerers and other Magic Users)
- 03:11, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Vampires)
- 03:10, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Demons and Old Ones)
- 03:09, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Magical Creations)
- 03:07, 28 February 2006 Gonzalo84 (→Deities and Higher Beings)
- Here, in about 5 minutes you make a 6 edits to different sections. It seems you made a few quick-edits then made some major changes, if you had held back for a moment to evaluate the full situation, you could have edited the entire document instead of editing each section individually. Don't jump on every edit you see. Take a moment to look for others first.
Just to point out, the Shadow-Men say to Buffy "We have been here since the beggining... now we are almost at the end". End, that means it wasn't a time portal. In the Buffyverse, there´s no such thing as "outside of space and time" AFAIK.--Gonzalo84 04:33, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Criptic dialogue should never, ever be taken at face value. Multiple dimensions are well known to exist, the only thing that is hard to pinpoint is the time aspect. There are the Turok-han who remain, as far as can be known, unchanged through their stay in the First's Seal (And yes, Vampire's appearances DO change as they grow older, documentation can be found the Makeup Effects special feature on the DVDs (I beleive Season 2 or 4, I cannot recall which offhand)). Sure, they could have waited, but they would have also starved into a comatose, braindead state without a food source (non visible). Ergo, they must be held in stasis as long as the seal around them is closed. And even without that geek-fu, there is still Illyria's citidel, Vahla ha'nesh, which exists out of synch with the time stream, though time still passes there. Majin Gojira 23:37, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
Demons, Vamps and Villains from Comics/Novels
editShould we create a separate article for the supernatural characters from comics and/or novels?--Gonzalo84 18:33, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Nah, seperate, major sub-section within this article would do nicely. And no Sub-articles for them, either. They're far to minor. Majin Gojira 18:49, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- IMHO only if they appear a number of times e.g. Abner (Buffyverse). Most of the characters only appear in one or two comics/novels, and as such can adequately be described within the articles for the comics/novels (seen at 'Buffyverse chronology').
- Probably best to only start making more articles like that once the rest of the Buffyverse is completed to a higher degree of quality (e.g. by improving the synopses and behind scenes info on the episode guide (see here). or improving existing character articles for the demons/vamps/villains. -- Paxomen 18:46, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Move?
editThis article should probably be moved to List of Buffyverse villains and supernatural beings, per WP:NC. NickelShoe 16:51, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
What needs work?
editThis article is listed on the Buffyverse WikiProject page as needing work, but there are no tags and this talk page hasn't been too active, so...what exactly needs to be done? Ideas?Elle (talk) 04:18, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
The Trio
editShouldn't The Trio (Jonathan, Warren and Andrew) be under the list of Dangerous Mortals? --Maurice45 (talk) 11:21, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Higher beings
editThere's at least one example missing from this list. I remember an episode where Giles went to see this group of people who he claimed existed outside of linear time. They refused to help him and told him not to bother them again. Unfortunately, I can't remember what episode or season it was, and I can't remember why Giles went to see them. Anyone remember?--24.255.171.220 (talk) 16:13, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Spells
editFor the sake of completion, I was wondering whether entities invoked during spells, such as Hecate and Osiris should be mentioned. That the spells work probably indicate that they exist in some form or another. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.255.171.220 (talk) 22:53, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Hindu Kush
editI believe the mention of Hindu Kush in "Judgment" is not of a demon, half-demon, or old one. It's of a location in the middle east.

I think it should not be in this list. However, I didn't delete it outright because I feel it should be a consensus. Medley72 (talk) 15:40, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Proposed merge of Vengeance demon into List of Buffyverse villains and supernatural beings
editPlausible search term that gets some page views; the list is likely the appropriate place to address this topic if not notable for its own page. Ost (talk) 03:24, 3 December 2019 (UTC)
- Merge since there are not enough references to justify it having its own article. Aspects (talk) 04:13, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
