Lifetime Achievement Award

edit

Gordie Howe won the lifetime achievement award shouldn't that be included in the lists? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.79.135.75 (talk) 06:33, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lester Patrick Trophy

edit

Is there a reason why the Lester Patrick trophy isn't listed here? It's listed at the NHL.com list of trophies. If it's not included here, then it shouldn't be a part of the FT drive. -- Scorpion0422 00:00, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tough call on that one. According to it's article, it is considered a non-NHL award, so it would fall outside of the scope of this article if this is accurate. At the same time though, there should be room for mention somewhere. I'll add it in a see-also section for now. Resolute 23:14, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dates of current holders

edit

You have a current holders column, but during the playoffs, some of the awards (most notably the regular season awards) are for the current hockey year, while the playoff and other larger awards are for the previous year (since they haven't been awarded yet). It would be good to have the date (or even just the year) that the current holder was awarded the award...maybe just in brackets beside the name. It would then be clearer what is really meant by current.

edit

Due to a change in the featured topic criteria, the National Hockey League awards featured topic has 3 months to satisfy criterion 3.c. by getting peer reviews done for the 3 audited articles in the topic: Mark Messier Leadership Award, Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award, and NHL Foundation Player Award. Skills Competition

edit

Does NHL have an award or trophy for "NHL All Star Skills Competition." Is NHL the only league that offers a skill competition, does it only happen in All Stars? --75.154.186.241 (talk) 16:46, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, there is no trophy, the NBA does a skills competition as well, and several teams have their own internal skills competitions that they host for their fans as an exhibition at some point during the season. Hope this helps, Resolute 17:10, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
No, players don't get awards for winning the various skills competitions, they can get NHL records for hardest shots and etc but no awards are handed out. I don't if any other league has similar competitions. —Krm500 (Communicate!) 17:12, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I ask the questions to provocatively, but a word of questions? It is not limited to only certain League players right? --75.154.186.241 (talk) 07:09, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Malkin or Ovechkin

edit

I'm with User:Whiteltng on the current edit war happening. This list should have Ovechkin as the holder of the award until the NHL awards are awarded in June, at which time Malkin will hold the award. Regards, -- Jeff3000 (talk) 02:31, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The column now says "most recent winner", and the most recent winner is Malkin. How come people only seem concerned about the Art Ross and not the Jennings Trophy, which is similar? -- Scorpion0422 03:08, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

NHL Milestone Award

edit

I came across this July 20, 1982 UPI article about the creation of the NHL Milestone Award given to players and coaches who reach the following milestones: “400 goals, 600 assists, 1,000 points and 1,000 games for skaters, 25 shutouts and 500 games for goaltenders and 500 wins and 750 games for coaches.” Info about these milestone awards has always been slim online so a separate article was hard to justify, but perhaps this changes things. --98.21.54.186 (talk) 22:30, 14 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

We have pages like List of NHL players with 1,000 points and List of NHL players with 1,000 games played for that. A 'See also' entry should suffice.--–uncleben85 (talk) 04:48, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

List of National Hockey League awardsList of NHL awards – Is this something to consider - should "NHL" be written in full or in short? I question it because of pages like List of NHL longest winning streaks, List of NHL mascots, and List of NHL statistical leaders. among many (most) others that use "NHL" instead of "National Hockey League". Is there a standard we should be using? –uncleben85 (talk) 04:45, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
