To-do list for Manga:
Just leaving a comment: This line "The history of manga is said to originate from scrolls dating back to the 12th century, and it is believed they represent the basis for the right-to-left reading style" is just awful. It really needs careful consideration. 1) Is said by whom? Are you referring to Choju Giga? If so, why not say so? I'd rather you didn't though, as this is an incredibly loose use of "manga" as meaning any comic image.... If you say "manga in the sense of comic image" though, you could get away with it. 2) The "basis of the right-to-left reading style" comment is just horrendously bad!! I mean laughably, ridicule-worthy awful! Have you never heard of China?? Right-to-left is the norm for reading Chinese texts, transferred to Japan, and of course this norm converts to reading images. Moreover, there are scrolls WAY before the 12th century that are visual and read right to left, such as the 9th c Karma Scroll. 3) Be creative. |

As I noticed that the manga industry is worth several billion US dollars something unexpected was drawn irreversibly to my attention, and what I found is: that the US dollars can be divided in parts while the Japanese yen is a simple large number. It is 3.6 versus 406.

erroneous Kanji given for manga
editThis is a real puzzler for me, as the picture given for "manga" is erroneous, as one can quickly see when comparing it with the kanji provided right at the beginning of the article (漫画). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E34:EC72:E9E0:10E7:3A2A:8AAB:853A (talk) 08:00, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- As could be seen on [1] (bottom right corner), Santō Kyōden's calligraphy is a bit particular. One stroke on 画 is started slightly below the top instead of from the top, and - unlike modern Japanese - Santō Kyōden regularly seems to utilize hyphen-like lines to connect compound characters. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 22:30, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- Exactly, and thanks for providing a more detailed explanation of what is problematic than I could.
- The mains issue I see with featuring this particular calligraphy is that I have seen it reproduced a lot in different contexts, and therefore propagating something that is very close to being a typo. 194.2.155.30 (talk) 14:52, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
Why is first manga example on manga infobox Wikipedia related?

- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Tollens (talk) 08:46, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
