Improvement
editThough i wrote this article, in its entirety (and just finished making some improvements) i will still freely admit that it needs A LOT of work. Wickedxjade 10:38, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
its not that bad. it maybe needs a picture, even though there is a picture of her on the OTEP page. The juggsd86 15:22, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
alrighty, i added a pic...im going to upload another but for now this'll have to do, im having problems with the licensing of about a dozen others that i have :( [i took the one that's up now as to avoid further issue].
Okay, im off to go review the article on better writing practices so i can improve this ;) Wickedxjade
Second paragraph is gibberish..."==Career== heavy scwn female vocalists in the metal scene who effectively uses death grunts, which some metal fans have claimed are computer-generated[3], a claim the vocalist heav". What??? 65.92.70.167 (talk) 01:04, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
There are two different years for her date of birth. 1980 and 1979. Please use the correct one and use citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.162.193.248 (talk) 00:56, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Trivia
editI know you don't have to but...why don't people sign this page? Parts of the trivia section were removed and I'd really like to know why, becasue most likely...I'll be reverting them back...
Toodles.
why is this on the trivia?
"She preaches a false message and can't back up what she says... Leading a false revolution."—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ich überwinde (talk • contribs) 05:57, 28 April 2007 ^^^son of an F, you effing vandalized the article twice...does that make you happy? does it make you feel good..if you don't like the message don't listen, wikipedia IS NOT the place to voice your convoluted/spiteful opinions, it's not an open forum!
But hey...why don't you myspace her and tell her how you feel...im sure she'd LOVE to hear it.
Child Abuse?
editIf her credibility regarding her birth name and age are in doubt, why is accepted as face value that she had an abusive childhood? Would it be more appropriate to preface it with "she states," and include a citation? Squirrelcar 11:30, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
If you feel that should be done then i suppose that's what you should do.
wickedxjade 05:15, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure if she even stated that, but it seems pretty evident from her lyrics and poems.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 153.91.170.100 (talk • contribs) 16:28, 30 May 2007
- I agree. That's why I don't like this sentence: "Other than the fact that she had a tumultuous and traumatic childhood riddled with abuse, (both physical and emotional), and that she's an "out" lesbian, much of everything else is left to the imagination of her fans." I think it should be changed or removed. Sion 00:12, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
^^you might be right...I'll try and reword that.wickedxjade 05:46, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
The things about Nirvana have to go...they belong one the bands page (if anywhere at all). wickedxjade 00:05, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed the mention of child abuse as, without a reliable source, it violates the Biographies of living persons policy. In fact, the whole article seriously needs some references.--BelovedFreak 15:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
'Citation Needed'
editI know that we need to cite sources and everything; But the tags are above pretty much every fact on the page, even the ones which don't necessarily need citation, such as 'She is best known for her role as vocalist and namesake of OTEP.[citation needed]' Must they ALL be there? -- --Sekhmort (talk) 22:28, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't believe they all should be there; I mean, the top of the page does have the tag that says it needs more citations, which would more or less make the [citation needed] tags in the article itself useless and just clutter up the page. --GVOLTT How's my editing?\My contribs 17:51, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
'Misplaced information'
editShamaya means in aramaic: "The vibration of creation, a conciousness of heaven. It is that which shines in and radiates as the center of all that is seen and unseen", is an excerpt from an aramaic prayer that says: "Y'hei slhama raba min shamaya" ('May there be abundant peace from heaven').
Although this is interesting information, it doesn't belong in the "Career" section... Could someone move it? Also, Aramaic should be capitalized and "conciousness" should be spelled "consciousness." Actually... could someone just re-write that whole bit and place it somewhere else?
ToxicKandyKidToxicKandyKid (talk) 06:04, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- I agree that it doesn't belong in the "Career" section. Does it belong in the article at all? If Otep chose this name for it's meaning (i.e., implying it isn't her birthname) I could see including it. If she didn't choose the name, why are we explaining the meaning? I'll go ahead and remove it. If anyone has good reason for it being there, please revert. Dorin (talk) 15:28, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Real name
editIs her name Otep Shamaya or Shanelle Baty?--96.227.140.206 (talk) 07:08, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
