Talk:Place names in Japan

Latest comment: 14 years ago by Bad edits r dumb in topic Edit warring

Should this article

edit

be categorized in Category:Japanese names? At this point, the category seems to include only family names. -- Rick Block 03:31, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • There's a lot of overlap. Why not put them together? The title "Japanese names" is broad enough to include both. Fg2 07:41, Mar 25, 2005 (UTC)

Increase kanji

edit

There should be more kanji. E.g., this sentence needs some: Chūetsu, part of Niigata Prefecture and location of the 2004 Chuetsu Earthquake: its name incorporates a kanji from Echigo Province (as do many other place names in the region).

Indeed, I'd put kanji on almost every Japanese word... --jidanni

How do Japanese name places outside Japan?

edit

I wanted to know what was their conception of continental or regional borders, don't they have a name for Eurasia and other continents? do they see the Philippines in the same region as china as Europeans do (Asia)? Till now I only know they name themselves as the root of the sun, China as the middle kingdom and America as the continent of rice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.26.37.150 (talk) 16:51, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring

edit

I have now filed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Edit_warring#Japanese_place_names . The image that keeps being removed is up for deletion at Commons (Commons:Deletion requests/File:346334h355h335h.jpg), nominated by the IP, so removing it from the article while the deletion discussion is ongoing is inappropriate. Longterm contentious user User:Pieter Kuiper has now jumped on the bandwagon.--Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 10:51, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

The map is incomprehensible at this resolution, so please remove it thx. Please be mindful of 3RR.--Bad edits r dumb (talk) 10:56, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
