Terminology

edit

Region is perhaps not the perfect translation of landsdel. But province is certainly wrong. -- Egil 20:34, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Maps

edit

There has been a request for maps of the regions. no:User:Martin made the county location maps and could perhaps help with the regions, too. If he is not available, no:User:Pyramide also made the blank map based on one of the location maps. --Eddi (Talk) 15:19, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

Trøndelag not the same as Midt-Norge

edit

Midt-Norge also includes Møre og Romsdal county, for instance in health service, in meteorology, in many public service organisations (Arbeidstilsynet and more). Trøndelag is an old region, including the two counties, but Midt-Norge is a much more recent concept. Orcaborealis 22:26, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I added a paragraph on Midt-Norge and various grouping of Møre og Romsdal and Rogaland, and removed the notion of Midt-Norge as synonym with Trøndelag. Please review. --Eddi (Talk) 23:48, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Looks good for Trøndelag and Midt-Norge. However, when is the whole of Rogaland considered part of Sørlandet? Isn't it only the part south of Boknafjorden, or even just the most southeastern part (Dalane district)? There have been some discussion about the new regions, but I don't think people would consider Haugesund part of Sørlandet. Egersund is a different matter... I think it would suffice to simply insert a single sentence into the text that states that "in certain contexts all or part of Rogaland and Møre & Romsdal counties may not necessarily be reckoned as part of the region Vestlandet", since that is a secondary usage, that deviates from the "official" designation of that region.
