Please clarify source material related to the charges and sentencing of Tijerina. According to Gonzales, Manuel G. 1999. Mexicanos: a History of Mexicans in the United States.Indiana University Press. as well as Acuna, Rodolfo. 1981. Occupied America: A History of Chicanos. Harper and Row Publishers, Tijerina was incarcerated in 1969 for charges related to the 1967 Kit Carson Forest occupation as well as a 1969 attempt to occupy the same location. He served concurrent sentences for charges related to these incidents and was release in 1971. -- 71.76.225.128 02:03, 30 December 2006 (UTC) Dr. Stephen J. Papago Tohono O'odham
editThe word Papago is actually an exonym a name the tribe was called by their neighbors. The tribe itself prefers Tohono O'odham. Though some people continue to refer to them as Papago the name of the reservation was officially changed. At the time of the Tijerina land purchase the reservation still had the older federal name.RichardBond (talk) 00:51, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
Sources and tone?
editAre there more "scholarly" references on this man's life? This article in its current state reads too much like self-promotion type bio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:8c3:c200:2e40:19bc:ad32:ae07:dc3 (talk) 02:49, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
