editCan anyone find a non-copyrighted photograph to post here? --Yekrats 17:08, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Parts of the article are copied from [1] We should rewrite this. Andris 07:16, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Rewrote 1997-2002 in more coherent way, using facts from Xinhua profile [2]. There is a couple of contradictions between Xinhua and the previous version [3]. Still have to resolve those. Andris 06:18, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Most famous Paksas' quote
editShould we add "Šikau ir tapšnojau"? :) Anyone able exactly translate into English?
Biased!
editThe article omits few main facts of Rolandas Paksas biography, making this person a caricature. It's very bad style to scrutinize curse words, said by a person in a private conversation (not publicly!), not saying something essential from his biography at the same time. The most essential fact from his political biography before the presidency is that he was the chairmen of Vilnius branch of the Homeland_Union_(Lithuanian_Conservatives) (that's why he became the city mayor) and, although for the short period, the chairmen of of the Homeland_Union_(Lithuanian_Conservatives) after it (that's why he became the Prime Minister; in fact he was the executive chairmen of the Conservators, for Vytautas Landsbergis, who promoted Paksas then, remained the main leader of the party all the time after the founding of the party).
This fact is true and no doubt, that knowing of it may affect attitude to Paksas of not Lithuanian users. It's also clear, that the article is badly biased without mentioning of this fact. By the way, in a result of this fact, many people in Lithuania believe, that data, that were get from the secret surveillance over Rolandas Paksas, had been never published the whole nor interpreted objectively, remaining this way simply a revenge by Vytautas Landsbergis to his former comrade after their conflict in 1999. The suspecting was supported also by facts, that conservator activists published all incriminations to Paksas before the formal starting of the surveillance and that the surveillance itself was controlled by then chairmen of the Security department of Lithuania Mečys Laurinkus, who was known as pro-conservator politician. - There's also other data, that is for Rolandas Paksas and against his prosecutors, but all except the previous are more probable versions than facts. The only thing appears real without any doubt, that all it reveals existence of super-corruption among the present leaders of Lithuania.
The article needs an essential improving.

- Proposition many people in Lithuania believe that is not based on any fact but only on someone's opinion unfit for an encyclopedia. If Lithuania's Supreme Court made resoliution that Paksas was guilty - it means that is a fact and that it is what article should contain. Please keep in mind what you are posting here. Perhaps You are right, that people oppinion mustn't be considered the main thing in an article of an encyclopedia. And if we not include people oppinion, it won't mean, that we agree with the position of some extremely elitarist politicians, that suppose people oppinion to be negligible at all. But I didn't insist on an oppinion. One of the main facts of Paksas' career was ommited in the article and still is as well as many other facts in development of events, considering Paksas' presidency. _The problem is, that many people try to use Wikipedia to proclaim their own political or other creeds rather to contribute in writing a good objective article. And such articles as this are very vulnerable for this sort of bias. So, I don't know if You not intend to do this way, and You also may suspect me to be intending to do te same. _So the only rational way is to present all facts and all positions around the facts without sham or omissions. Rolandas paksas
editRolandas was the fourth president of restored lithuania, for some reason he is mentioned as 7th. In lithuania you count the presidents from the independence in 1991. The before ones are referred as head of state. Please fix it Jonathan311 (talk) 12:49, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Poor article quality
editFrom the end of the lead: "In 2018 the amendment which would allow for Paksas to run for parliamentary seat is to be submitted.[3] But he will not be allowed to run for president or become the speaker of the Parliament. He is considered to be the worst President of Lithuania in modern history.[4]"
The first sentence is out of date as it is obviously now past 2018. The second sentence should be merged into the first for grammar and readability reasons. The third sentence is far too subjective, even if it is true (I don't know whether it is, I'm just passing by). Someone please put a "this article needs work" banner on it, I don't know how.
