Dear @TheRedPenOfDoom:, I will add reliable source to each and every sentence. But for that you have to show some patience. You could have added sources to improve article but rather you are making it worse. If you don't want to make article good give chance to those who are interested. Again, Please don't revert give time. Thanks--25 CENTS VICTORIOUS  07:31, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

You can provide all the sources you want, but this is the article about his filmography and his philanthropy has ZERO to do with his filmography. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 07:37, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
If you have some doubts regarding why it has been mentioned, you should refer Shahrukh Khan filmography or Aamir Khan filmography. Both are FL. Featured list article is independent article. Please read both those, I have mentioned. It will clear your doubts. You have removed filmfare nomination received by Khan in notes section without discussing it, why ?--25 CENTS VICTORIOUS  07:44, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Both the Sharukh Khan and Aamir Khan filmography articles deal only with their respective films and film production, not irrelevant stuff about the actors themselves, such as philantrophy. Just as they should, and this article also should. Thomas.W talk 08:27, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
If you have some problem with particular content list them. You shall wait before applying wikipedia edit rules.--25 CENTS VICTORIOUS  13:55, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Que? You seem to believe that you're excluded from the rules that apply here on WP. You're not. Thomas.W talk 16:17, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I have removed template. Now do one thing, remove all films which are unsourced. As this is the main reason you sign up on wikipedia. It will also give you some satisfaction since you enjoy making article suck. All the best--25 CENTS VICTORIOUS  18:45, 28 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut

edit

I noticed the edit-warring and then took a look at what was being fought over, the claim about Salman Khan having been awarded a Filmfare award for best male debut, a claim that is unsourced in the article, and also not mentioned in the article about that award. Which means you can't add it back unless you also provide a reliable source for it, and since anyone making a revert takes full responsibility for that edit, whoever reverts the removal of it without adding a reliable source is violating Wikipedia's rules about sources and verifiability. Thomas.W talk 18:18, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Thomas.W: I'm not sure why are you saying that the claim was unsourced when it is properly sourced both in the lead and the table. Also, the award from the article was also removed by the editor. I am sure there are variety of sources to verify but the editor simply keeps stating that he didn't win the award and that we need to ask some editor on Twitter, which is definitely not a reason to remove a sourced info from the article. I would them to discuss that here and gain WP:CONSENSUS and stop edit-warring. -- Frankie talk 18:39, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Point me to the source that explicitly says he won that award. Thomas.W talk 19:16, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
There you are. Now I am expecting from that editor, who keeps asking to ask the Filmfare editor on Twitter, to stop. -- Frankie talk 19:32, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
It's mentioned in the text of the sources in that diff, but it has to be here in order to count. It's a bit odd that I can't find anything about it on the Filmfare website (filmfare.com), though, even though I tried every search term imagineable, and then some, it also seems a bit strange that he would win an award for "best male debut" for a film that apparently wasn't his debut... Thomas.W talk 19:48, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
His first role, the one in Biwi Ho To Aisi was a supporting role and wasn't quite a notable role so his role, for which he won the Best Debut awards, is often considered as his debut (or maybe some other reasons I am not aware of). Quoting texts from links in ref 23; "Salman Khan won Filmfare Best Male Debut Award for his performance in 'Maine Pyar Kiya'." (from The Times of India, whose parent company is the same as Filmfare's so there is no chance of inaccuracy), "Salman stole hearts with his ripped muscles and swag in the film, taking home the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut that year" (from The Indian Express) and "His second film 'Maine Pyar Kiya' (1989), in which he acted in a lead role, garnered him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut." (from Firstpost). -- Frankie talk 19:55, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@FrB.TG: I'm beginning to doubt the truth of it. According to IMDb there wasn't even an award named "Best Male Debut" in 1990 (the 35th Filmfare Awards, where Salman Khan was nominated for best actor), only a unisex "Best Newcomer Award", and that award was won by Sooraj R. Barjatya, not Salman Khan. It was in fact not until 1996 that Filmfare started to hand out separate newcomer-awards for male and female actors, and even then it was still called Best Newcomer - Male, etc. So not even the name of the award is correct. Thomas.W talk 20:21, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've found a bit more about it now, and it does indeed seem like the claim about Salman Khan having received the "Filmfare Best Male Debut" award is highly dubious (to put it mildly). The articles here are a total mess, and the Filmfare awards claimed for Maine Pyar Kiya and Salman Khan in their respective articles don't match what non-Indian non-partisan sources say. Maine Pyar Kiya was awarded the best film award in 1990, and that's about all that matches what IMDb say (note: I'm not claiming that IMDb is an ultrareliable source, only that it currently seems to be the best, and most neutral, we have...). Neither the "Best Male Debut" nor the "Best Female Debut" existed in the early 1990s, only a generic "Best Newcomer" award, which was won by Aamir Khan in 1989, Sooraj R. Barjatya in 1990 and Ajay Devgn in 1991, making it impossible for Salman Khan to have won it for his role in Maine Pyar Kiya (and there are other claims here that don't match either, such as List of awards and nominations received by Salman Khan claiming that he won the "Filmfare Award for Best Actor" in 1990, which isn't true, he was only nominated for it, the winner of that award was Jackie Shroff for his role in Parinda). And the claim that Bhagyashree Patwardhan won "Best Female Debut" in 1990 for her role in Maine Pyar Kiya doesn't match what IMDb say either, she did however win the "Lux Face of the Year" award that year... Thomas.W talk 22:04, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I myself doubt its accuracy but I believe no one knows the "truth". And given that there are even sources like IBTimes which say so we can't do anything but rely on these sources, true or not. -- Frankie talk 22:26, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Actually I am confused what to do. While IMDb (can be inaccurate) and some deep research say otherwise, there are highly reliable (considered) sources which claim the win of Khan at the 1990 Filmfare Awards. Don't know which way to go. -- Frankie talk 22:30, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
IMHO the claim about Salman Khan having won the "Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut" for his role in Maine Pyar Kiya should be removed, since he can't possibly have won it. And not only in this article but in all articles here. And the same goes for the claim in List of awards and nominations received by Salman Khan about him having won "Filmfare Best Actor Award" in 1990 for the same film, which definitely isn't true. Thomas.W talk 13:46, 20 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have removed the claim from the article. After watching this video, I am now absolutely sure that he did not win the award. -- Frankie talk 14:36, 21 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Table

edit

An IP is persistently insisting that this version is better than the current version and kind of edit-warring over it (this is not the first time they are doing this). I don't want to bite and discourage them from editing Wikipedia but inserting all of seasons of a show in one column is not a good idea as it creates an unnecessary big space, making it hard for readers with small screens. Also, multiple references make it hard to know which one is for which season. I would also like input from @Thomas.W:. -- Frankie talk 12:44, 1 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
