Hello, I have reverted your last edit on Saman Ghoddos, because there is no need to write two full names for the player. Fifa's official list of players is a legitimate source and I would write the name from that list. Shervin27 (talk) 00:17, 12 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
There is definitely a need to write both versions, similar to Justin Meram, as Ghoddos’ native & birth name differs from his Iranian name. You keep misspelling his Iranian name as well; it is Ghoddoos per source and not Ghoddos.--Ronnnaldo7 (talk) 00:21, 12 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
You keep reverting to a version of the name that is not supported in any of the sources. The sources have “Saman Ghoddos” as his full league registered name, and “Seyed Saman Ghoddoos” on his Iranian passport for the World Cup, but not “Seyed Saman Ghoddos”, as you keep reverting to. Until you list it in a proper way, such as with a note like with Medhi Benatia or both names like Justin Meram, there’s no way that will stand.--Ronnnaldo7 (talk) 00:19, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I think it is necessary to mention his name in both Sweden and Iran, he holds two passports with different spellings and both are legally being used. Pahlevun (talk) 18:58, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Ronnnaldo7: A club and Swedish FA profile are not sufficient to verify this is his full birth name in Sweden. Many club profiles omit the player's full name, so we should not be reliant upon this. A better source would need to be provided to show evidence that this was actually his birth name. As for Ghoddos versus Ghoddoos, a note similar to Benatia could be used. S.A. Per above, you’re making incorrect edits by listing his name as Seyed Saman Ghoddos. His birth name is Saman Ghoddos in Sweden, whereas the Iranian federation set his name as Seyed Saman Ghoddoos, per the source, when he switched allegiance. This is similar to other players such as Justin Meram. Consensus has been reached on the matter, and you are writing his name incorrectly. --Ronnnaldo7 (talk) 05:30, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@S.A. Julio: The sources listed predate his switching of allegiance and use his full name that is registered in Sweden. That is, both the Swedish Football Association and his club at the time - Östersund - listed his name based on his full legal name on his Swedish passport, which is Saman Ghoddos. He is also registered at Brentford using his Swedish passport - Saman Ghoddos. Again, this is a similar occurrence to other players such as Justin Meram, whose new federations give them different names from their birth names.--Ronnnaldo7 (talk) 05:39, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
The profile of his club and the Swedish FA do not necessarily use his full legal name in Sweden. For example look at Caroline Seger, her full name is Sara Caroline Seger, but her Swedish FA profile only uses "Caroline Seger". The sources you mentioned are not enough to prove "Saman Ghoddos" is his birth name. S.A. Julio (talk) 05:56, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Again, his current club Brentford have him registered based on his Swedish passport, which uses his birth name - Saman Ghoddos. & again, this is a similar case as Justin Meram. Also, practically all Google search sources use the name Saman Ghoddos.--Ronnnaldo7 (talk) 05:59, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ronnnaldo7: Okay, but this does not prove "Saman Ghoddos" is his birth name in Sweden. It only proves he goes by the name Saman Ghoddos. For all we know his legal name could be spelled differently or include "Seyed", but he instead chooses to use the name "Saman Ghoddos" publicly. None of the sources you included can be trusted to include a player's full given name. S.A. Julio (talk) 06:48, 21 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Any source that he is Swedish born? You don't get citizenship by being born in Sweden. He is probably a naturalized Swedish citizen (besides of his Iranian born citizenship). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.85.139.237 (talk) 17:33, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
You can become a Swedish citizen by being born in Sweden. Saman cannot even speak Persian and avoids having any interviews in Persian because of that. Persiangreat (talk) 23:54, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
