Sketchup Make vs Pro
editIn several places this articles says that Sketchup Make is a free version of Sketchup Pro. I just downloaded Sketchup Make 2015 and it plainly states that it is a TRIAL version of Sketchup Pro and will expire in 30 days.Casaerwin (talk) 18:05, 5 December 2014 (UTC) i want to download sketchup make 2016197.155.207.252 (talk) 09:59, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
The latest incarnation of SketchUp (2018) no longer offers 'SketchUp Make' and instead offers 'SketchUp Free' which is web-based rather than a downloadable app. P.mcdonald87 (talk) 18:01, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Marked for deletion/Improper deletion notice.
editThis page has a deletion notice on it.
The deletion notice suggests that this article on Software does not meet the notability requirements for a corporation/organization. The proposed concern appears to be based a lack of understanding of the subject matter and should be disregarded.
As this software has been owned by a number of different companies over the course of it's existence, therefore making it a subtopic of an article on a single company seems inappropriate.
Due to the fact that Google allowed free use of this software, and promoted it's use for creating 3D models for inclusion on Google Maps, this is an extremely well known and widely used piece of software. I mentioned that the Wikipedia page for SketchUp was up for deletion to an ASU (Political Science) student working at a local art museum a couple of hours ago and he knew that it was a CAD program. While clearly anecdotal, this illustrates notability.

- Kevin Trumbull, what does any of the above have to do with notability? And no, the proposed deletion should not be ignored. To make that statement is a violation of a key wikipedia policy, WP:AGF. I do not need to understand the subject matter to understand notability. The subject's notability has no relationship to the subject matter of the article. The same is true for any wikipedia article. - I wholeheartedly agree with Kevin Trumbull and Der Golem. The nominator appears to have missed that this is an article about software, rather than about a company. While you don't have to understand the subject matter to understand notability, John, you do need to understand which notability policy applies. – voidxor (talk | contrib) 20:22, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
I don't want to revive this discussion, but I just want to state for any possible future notability discussion that I think Sketchup is very notable. Due to the mass educational licensing feature of Sketchup Pro, it has been incorporated into the school system and/or individual schools of many countries and states. For example, New Zealand where I live had a nationwide educational license, so that any school could use it without cost or restrictions, in as many installations and for as many students as they liked, for as long as they liked. So a lot of students when I was young knew exactly what Sketchup was when mentioned, because they used it at school. I don't know if this is all still happening now, but the fact that many students around the world have used it at school in the past I think makes it notable. Ken K. Smith (a.k.a. Putting files on google warehouse from google drive
editPerhaps a stupid question, but can sketchup files uploaded to google drive be immediatelly sent to google warehouse (ie using right-click -> share model). The google drive uploader is better than the google warehouse uploader, so that would have value. KVDP (talk) 12:02, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Software in use
editIn 2007 ruby was used by sketchup, but I read elsewhere that this may no longer be the case. I just don't know - haven't spent time in this regard. Would it be possible for anyone who knows this, to have a look at the paragraph and consider updating it? In particular saying whether ruby is still used or not, whether something changed in this regard. 2A02:8388:1604:F600:6D3E:54F:D1:F386 (talk) 18:53, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
